Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

Since Armor isn't starting a new franchise until the summer, anyone else on here have an opinion on which are the best rosters to use for someone trying to start a new one relatively soon?

I've been over in the roster forum but the CRP thread is pretty confusing to follow and at this point there are multiple rosters in the vault. I'm trying to start my 19 franchise ASAP. It looks like the top choices are "90 man rosters" by critz2, "All teams almost 90 man" by MeAndBettyWhite, and "Cujo/9er/Lisac" by toodles2you.

Anyone have an idea which is the most complete and accurate? Would like to fire up franchise soon.. getting anxious especially now that we have v1.0 of these sliders!!

The only thing I struggle with are the following:

strike zone box on and ball cursor on.

Any tips on how to play with them off would be appreciated.
I'd love to do it that way, but I can't grasp classic pitching without the ball cursor.

          Practice and patience.

I didn't know if your ask was specific to pitching or pitching and hitting. Either way, I added my approach for both, but do mention both strike zone and cursor in the pitching portion.

          Pitching (No Ball Cursor)
Go into practice and turn vibration on with ball cursor and strike zone on. Start to correlate ball position relative to edge of the zone and vibration. Once you feel confident in that correlation, turn off strike zone so you're only using vibration and ball cursor. Over time, you'll start to notice that the ball cursor is distracting because you can determine the strike zone edges by vibration. From there, you could start to "feel" classic pitching and turn off vibration altogether. I personally prefer using vibration.

          Batting (No Strike Zone)
The biggest thing to understanding the strike zone, IMO, without the box is stick to one batting camera. I like to stick with Wide or Show 15. I will then go into practice, set my controller to the side and guess each pitch. Since it's practice, the only result that matters is your understanding of the zone. Once you're comfortable with the zone, pick up the controller and swing at strikes! One thing that helps me is to sick to a location and if the pitch isn't pitched there, I let it go. I use L2 (I think) to view the strike zone during the AB to see where the pitcher is throwing and to get a quick review of the strike zone (sometimes my brain is distracted and I use that as a cue to "lock in.")

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

I built up the courage to play HoF batting and HoF pitching. Woo that was great. I really surprised myself with my patience and I chased put my opposing starter after 5 innings and 3 ER due to a high pitch count in the 90's. My offense was pretty clumped as I scored 1 in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd and then nothing afterwards. My SP was on fire though. 7 IP and 6Ks. 4 hits and 1 ER given up.

As far as batting goes, that wasn't as bad as I thought and your sliders do a fantastic job at feeling realistic. I had 9 hits but only squeezed out 3 runs. The fielding might also be the best feeling part of this. You've done a great job already, A&S.

I still need to practice a ton but this is really encouraging and the gameplay is very engaging

the CRP thread is really confusing, but I think I have figured it out. Lisac posted a roster under “Cujo/9er/Lisac" its suppose to I believe be a full 25 men updated correctly, and majority, if not all duplicates are fixed, abd lot of transactions done, and tons of prospects added in. I have been using them and so far, I am pretty happy with it to start my franchise with.

Edit: fixed my post. Used my phone and dang autocorrect got me!!

By the way, thank you Armor for every year blessing us with your slider sets for all the sport games we all love.

Really excited to get my franchise underway with these sliders. Just have to choose a team. My favorite team is the O’s but I don’t know if I can stomach playing with them this year. I’m thinking about using a contender just don’t know which one quite yet. Planning to play multiple years every pitch. Any suggestions?

Hey Armor, not trying to bully in on your sliders, I just wanted to talk to you about the fielder speed and reaction sliders. In past years, nerfing them was necessary, as effective range and full range were basically the same thing.

But this year I've noticed a lot more errors on tough plays, so I decided instead to crank the errors slider up, and I noticed something really interesting. It was reducing the speed and reactions of fielders. Outfielders would have to look at the ball more, reducing their speed, and infielders were less likely to get perfect jumps on hard hit balls.

The errors slider seems to effect far more than just ball in glove errors, and turning it up seems to have a profound impact on the game. The key is that elite defenders can still unlock their full potential in terms of effective range sometimes, while bad defenders rarely do.

Again, not trying to bully in on your sliders, just trying to be a resource. I've just found with errors cranked up is a really interesting game out in the field. and I've had to bring fielder speed and reaction sliders back up to default to compensate.
