Well first of all I’m a bit of a presentation nut. So I hit from a custom view from behind the pitcher lol. With that said, I had fastball speed at 9 and offspeed at 7 last year. This year, I have fastball speed at 7 and offspeed at 7 for HOF because as everyone has mentioned, the higher difficulty definitely has a faster pitch speed this year. But the issue was I was never getting around on fastballs. I was constantly tense playing the game the first couple of nights gearing up for a fastball. Then they would drop a change and I would be light years early. By lowering fastball speed, the game is so much more enjoyable. Don’t get me wrong it’s still difficult but in the first 5 games I played I had 0 home runs and was batting like .210 as a team. Then I lowered the pitch speed slider and in my new franchise I’ve hit 6 in 4 games and have a team batting average of .253. I can guess wrong on a pitch now and still make contact. I want it challenging but still you gotta have fun. I just checked and in my first 4 games I’ve struck out no less than 6 times and no more than 8. I think Armor and co have the sliders down pat. This game is great out of the box. It comes down to some individual skill at some point and the pitch speed slider, I don’t think has any side effects, except you reacting to the ball either better or worse depending on if you lower or higher it which is why I started with that slider only.

And one other thing I’ve always been curious about. I hit using directional, except I never use the joystick to direct anything. I literally just press X. Not sure if that would explain anything for any of you guys.Comment

Fish Eye!
What I love about it that you don't get with a lot of other angles is a great view of the beautiful backdrops in the stadiums. You can see foul pole to foul pole and beyond and really get to experience how much work is put into making these stadiums near flawless.
I’ve been looking for that perfect hitting view for myself and I think I’ve settled on Fish Eye 2.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I did complain about perceived CPU comeback logic in the 6th inning the past two seasons as my pitcher would always have a difficult time no matter how well he did the prior 5 and it may have been due to quick counts.
Just my theory, though, as I started playing every pitch this year and have not had the same issue.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
For you guys struggling with power, one adjustment saved me in the beginning- the pitch speed slider. Try lowering a click. I always play with a clean screen but I couldn't for the life of me figure out why I was getting crap contact. As it turns out, I was constantly "slightly late," thanks to the batter swing info. So I lowered pitch speed by a click and then I was saved.
Don’t know why my reflexes aren’t that great with this game but I can hold my own in any competitive shooter.
I have been crushing the ball in my current franchise and bumped up to HOF hitting so we’ll see how that goes. If I’m still mashing at ridiculous rate I’ll bump up the pitch speed.
Currently I’m 10-5 and have had some games where I struggled to put runs on the board, though.Comment

I read it last year and it really helped my game. Even if you’re doing well it will step your game up even more.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
So I just went back and looked I have hit 34 hr in 19 games in my franchise since I've got 19. So no power outage for me.
All games on HOF with pitch speed on 5 except one game with it on 4.

In previous versions of the Show one of the first things I would do is lower both pitch speeds. My aging eyes would struggle with anything around default so I’d automatically lower them to 2. This year for some reason, even though the pitch speeds feel faster at default, hitting feels more natural. With speeds slower I found myself waiting on everything which made me late on every pitch. With pitch speeds at default I don’t have as much time to react so hitting just feels much smoother and a lot more rewarding. I’m striking out a little more than I’d like but that’ll improve once I get the timing right. But my contact has been much better and I’m able to pull the ball a lot more than I did with lower pitch speed.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I’m really struggling where I’m about to go back to rookie level on hitting. I know it is a small sample size but the last 5 games I only 22 hits and they were all singles. Game really not fun when you just hit a single and can’t do anything else. This is even trying to raise timing to 6 on hall of fame and even going to all star. I’m about to just put all the sliders to 10 and say screw this.Follow me on Twitch

I might try that. The other day I ran it up to All Star + so I locked it in this game now and I’m up 3-1 in the 5th inning with 8 hits. 1 double and a Hr. I might put the progress at 3 so it can go up and down.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
Personally, I think the game does a good enough job at balancing hits by itself. Pull hitters will pull the ball without you doing anything. I get extremely realistic outcomes and stats over a long sample size without ever touching it.
In my opinion, having a whole strategy with the left stick where you change what you do in every count and situation is overthinking and over-micromanaging (not a word, I know), instead of letting the game do its thing, which it will if you give it the chance.
In summary, the game is balanced enough and getting crazy with the left stick is just too much user intervention and not letting the ratings and the great game play itself out. I think it kind of goes against the whole philosophy of what this whole slider set is about with the directional and clean screen approach and letting the ratings and the natural game be the deciding factor of outcomes!Last edited by MoneyMan17; 04-06-2019, 12:40 AM.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
I’ve had Armors 18 sliders loaded for that version and they are playing well of course. Can’t wait to get into 19! I might start from Default and be informed by what Armor does with his sliders. Can’t really do much wrong the game is playing so well! I’ve decided with 19 I’m just going to start a franchise and enjoy the game without fussing too much.Comment

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders
On another note... this was my very first play on the first batter after bumping baserunner speed to 5, which I believe Armor is currently testing. I know Gardner is fast (83 speed) but I was wondering if he should have really beat this out and by this much. Thoughts?

Bit of a sloppy video, lol, sorry. Didn't do any editing and got lots of different angles.Comment
