Are you getting swings and misses from the CPU? My first tweak would be to raise solid hits to 6
...next move after that is maybe lower your pitcher control

0-2 and 1-2 counts are a bit tougher this year. But I am finally figuring out what pitches and locations I need to use with my staff....and this year you really need to scout the hitters hot and cold zones and the type of hitter they are. Plus check their quirks!

It makes for an intense battle.
That is absolutely what I always loved about this title this year and years past. You have to play the game as if you are coaching. Know your hitters as Armor said, sacrifice when warranted, use the hit and run, gamble sometimes. Its so awesome to get into the game within the game. Even when I lose I know it is my fault and I have never had so much fun doing it!

I feel like the CPU puts the ball in play a lot more with it that low. It’s trading one thing for another, really. I have fewer 8-12 pitch at-bats where guys are fouling everything off, but then on the flip side getting to two strike counts has become much more difficult.

The most I’ve struck out in a single game so far with a starter has been 8. And that was a complete game (perfect game in fact). Every year up until MLB 19 I would have games every now and again where a pitcher would go 7.0 IP and punch out 11. Or a complete game with 13 strikeouts. Not the case in 19.

So it’s not analyzing every little thing, for me, it’s pretty odd abnormalities for someone that’s played baseball video games since the mid-80’s and has played The Show religiously since MBL 08. Every year I have decent strikeout numbers against the computer, but this year I noticed it was different after just a few days. That, along with the power outage for users.

I still expect an update at some point that changes things. Which, in a sense, is also somewhat frustrating, because then we have to re-tweak things.

Last year was a little ridiculous. If you remember our of the gate people were launching home runs all over. Then an update nerfed it. Then another put it where it should be.

Man I'm sorry you're feeling that way. I am not having any issue with hitting hr. My first 32 games on 19 to end my year 2 I hit 1.8 hr a game and scored 4.8 runs a game. So far through my first 17 games of year 3 after a slow start when I only scored 4 runs in the first 3 games. I'm up to 4.3 runs a game and 1.4 hr a game. And that is all with human hitting sliders on default. I haven't made any changes to that it is working perfect for me on default.

As for pitching after I moved foul frequency to 3 I have struck out 8-11 guys in now 12 straight games. And two days ago I had a started get 11k in 7 innings. I know you have been laying this game for years like myself but maybe you should try a different approach when you get ahead in the count. I mean you probably already have but just a suggestion because imo this years show is hands down the most competitive one ever.

I'm in mid May as well. I've seen 3 trades and I've been offered 2.

I have some of the same issues you are having and I'm on all-star. I think a lot of it is my fault/my teams fault though. I play as the Rays. They're doing great IRL but if you look at their lineup on the game there's not much pop. I struggle with Runners on when hitting. I think I get anxious and try to go deep with players I shouldn't considering the situation. As for pitching I actually do pretty well, but I have yet to see a double figure strikeout game. I've had multiple 8 and 9 k games though.

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

I know I complain more than most on here, so sorry for that. Please just keep in mind it’s because I love baseball and I love The Show. The past few years have been some of the best results I’ve ever gotten in a baseball game. Everything was spot on, except for not issuing quite enough walks, which has always been a problem.

This year, however, the strikeout issue has frustrated me maybe more than it should. I’ll just try to let it play out. After all, I generally have fun playing, even if I strike out just four batters.

Last night I had arguably the craziest finish I’ve ever had on The Show. I was up 2-1 with two outs in the bottom of the ninth. The Nationals pinch hit Howie Kendrick, who proceeds to hit a LOOOONG fly ball to left.

I ran back with Schwarber, jumped... and robbed the home run to end the game. I still can’t believe it. I posted the video of it in the franchise forum if you’re interested.

Baseball never ceases to remind us that crazy stuff does indeed happen pretty regularly. We need to stop trying to find the mlb average game every game and just learn to love the ups and downs. Yesterday the cardinals scored 17 runs!!!! Oh, and they hit 0 HR during the game too.

Has anyone tested the Dynamic Difficulty sensitivity slider? I'm wondering how much it affects gameplay. I'm seeing a lot of very similar games (I've mastered losing low scoring games unfortunately and often) so I'm wondering if moving it up or down makes much of a difference? I read a review somewhere that said it's wildly inconsistent and can prevent consecutive good games due to nerfing the user after they play well. Furthermore I noticed after games it'll sometimes say I need to save my sliders even though I've made no changes. Is this due to the dynamic difficulty? I'll check the sliders and everything is always where I had them.

That slider's only function is for when you're using the "Dynamic" difficulty gameplay option for pitching and/or hitting, and it controls the speed of how fast you progress or regress through the difficulty levels. If you're using a fixed difficulty level (as this slider set does, be it All-Star or HOF), it does nothing.

Just saw the CPU take a pitcher out with one out in the fifth inning of a 3 to 2 game. There was no one on base. I posted a couple of days ago that I was seeing the CPU take pitchers out after four or so innings more and more often. Is anyone else seeing this?

Re: Armor & Sword & Marino’s MLB The Show 19 Classic/Directional Simulation Sliders

I tested another option in regards to have better command and playing through the 0-2 and 1-2 CPU success to get better results in terms of weak contact and more strikeouts.

I think....and it needs a few more test games of course may have found a much better slider solution.

                          Human Consistency to 6
CPU foul Freq back to 3

Coupled with Human control at 6 the results have been a lot better.

Again HOF is much harder this cycle both hitting and pitching but I love the CPU pitching AI on HOF. It is simply night and day from All-Star.

                          So try this combination out:

                          Human control - 6
                          Human consistency - 6
                          CPU foul frequency -3

If you are need of an offensive boost this will work great and it is not OP at all. In fact it is a balancer because the CPU on HOF mashes. Plain and simple.

                          Human contact - 6
                          Human Power - 6
                          Human Timing -6

Again we are near default HOF but just making enough tweaks to balance the game and not have this artificial CPU advantage but retain the far better CPU pitching AI and the more challenging HOF pitch speeds.

I will be streaming tonight starting around 10PM est!

Timing to 6 would, imo be less pop....but it can definitely affect your strikeout numbers......which seem to he an issue with some folks
