    So..

First off thanks for all your hard work. This post isn't to knock your sliders. But I just feel some kind of pop is missing..... I mean I have only started 1 regular season but played most of my spring training and I would say ... Out of 20 some games only maybe 2 I think I had 5 Hits or more.... So now AND I KID YOU NOT I'm playing my first game Indians Vs Twins I Tied it 1-1 AND WE ARE GOING INTO THE 20 yes I said 20th inning cause I can't hit and they can't hit.
The Twins have like 9 hits but through pitching I was able to strand them a bunch and I hit a 1 shot bomb with kipnis....
Im at six pitching speed now thinking of going to 7 but... I'm early and late and late and then Early and when I think I do smack the ball good it's just a line drive to the outfield.

    ANNNNY advice would be great

At 6, almost every game has gone over 10 total runs. Hits are way off the chart and batters are getting hits on pitches that should not be always be hits.

Everything else is playing very well. Again, this is for my play style and difficulty.

I wish I had that issue I can barley get a hit

If you can't hit, why are you using a higher pitch speed and then wanting to increase it?

I just dont have the time to do every pitch. I prefer qc because im not patient at the plate and i can draw walks. Lol. It fits with my gameplay style and i believe it has no impacts to his slider set good or bad.

Also i was in the same boat on guess pitch. I have played with it ON every year till just now. Trust me it takes time to get rid of that muscle memory of guessing a pitch but im to the point now where ill never turn it back on because of the negative impact and how i struggled with it on.

I use quick counts and get great games with Josh's sliders.

            Re: JoshC1977's MLB 19 Sliders

For all the people wondering if quick counts work with Josh's sliders the answer is a simple yes. I am in my late forties and have very little time to play complete games and play multiple seasons with work and family commitments. One of the things I love about the show is the ability to play multiple seasons but that is hard to do unless you play quick counts. Drafting, trading, and free agency are big things to me that I love about the game. So for those of you that enjoy playing multiple seasons I thought I would share my approach to the game. First off let me take a minute to thank Josh for all the work he has put into this sliders to give us hours and hours of enjoyment. Thank you Josh!

So if you are still interested and reading thank you and here we go. So as I mentioned earlier my goal is to play multiple seasons but also wanted the following things to matter.

            - Have the ability to play 30+ Regular Season games in full.
            - Home field advantage matters as it should.
            - Ratings control alot of the outcome of games not my game play.
            - Ability to play entire series and multiple games quicker.

I play with every pitcher in the rotation multiple times. This is how I do it. When the season starts I will play with the ace on opening day then skip 2,3,4,5,and the ace and then play with the #2 starter for a full game regardless if home or away. I will use this set up all season until the playoffs if I get there. Which I use the Pirates so that doesn't happen much lol. I do have exceptions to the rule above.
            - Home opener will play full game.
            - MLB debut for an upcoming pitcher

Approach to home games with exception of full games already scheduled.

            - Game 1 - I play (pitch and hit) first 3 innings and then sim 4,5,6,and 7 and play 8 and 9. Note - I sim more if leading or losing by 4 or more runs until winning or losing by less than 4.

Game 2 - Play first 2 innings (Bat and pitch) sim 3 4 5 6 7 play 8 and 9. Note - I sim more if leading or losing by 4 or more runs until winning or losing by less than 4.

Game 3 - WARNING - This one can be confusing...lol. I sim every pitcher and batter unless the following happens a runner gets on base with less than 2 outs. Then I come into the game to hit or pitch. After we get 2 outs either way I will only hit or pitch if there is a runner in scoring position. Again I use this for all nine innings unless I am winning or losing by 4 or more and until I am winning or losing by less than 4.

Away games approach is a little bit different but pretty close to the same.

Game 1 - I play 1,2,and 3 (hitting only no pitching) sim 4,5,6,and 7 play 8 and 9 (hitting only). NOTE - I sim if winning or losing by 4 or more runs until winning or losing by less than 4.

Game 2 - I sim 1 thru 6 only play 7,8 and 9 (hitting only). NOTE - If winning or losing by 4 or more I sim until winning or losing by less than 4.

Game 3 - sim all plays until one of the following happens while hitting. We get a runner in scoring position. NOTE - if winning or losing by 4 or more I will sim until winning or losing by less than 4.

*** If it's a 4 game series you decide what you want to do.

The following exceptions come into play.

            - A MLB debut for a position player otherwise I will bat Everytime it's their turn for the whole game.
            - A player on a 20 game or more hitting streak I will hit for them all game. Those are special moments.
            - An extremely important game against divisional opponents that have major playoff implications.

            Playoffs
            - Wild card - play full game.
Division Series - play 1st full game at home whatever that game is in series. Play full game in any game that is a possible series clinching game. All other games play 1,2,and 3 (hitting and pitching) sim 4,5,6,and 7 and play 8 and 9.
League Series and World series - same rules as divisional.

If you are still reading thank you for reading. If you decide to use this approach I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.

In closing Josh I hope you don't mind that I shared my approach to the game on your thread. I just wanted to share for people who like me enjoy rebuilding teams and playing the greatest baseball game ever.

To all the Father's out there enjoy your day. After I get done watching the Bucs and Marlins on TV I am going to play the Show.

            Let's Go Bucs!!!

Try changing your camera....sounds like you're not seeing pitches well. Also, if you have any assists or visual aids on (you should not if you're following the OP exactly), make sure you turn them off.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Follow the OP exactly. I made the mistake of not following it to a tee and it was literally the reason for my struggles. Changing to retro camera made a world of difference seeing the ball for me and make absolute certain "guess pitch" is off.

I was seeing the exact same thing. Ton of hits and a jump in homreruns. It evened out though. A few hitters went cold and now I'm seeing lower scoring.

Ive been M.I.A. for about a week now, but for good reason though. I've been rebuilding my beloved O's. We're now in year 2024 and are finally hitting our stride. Below is our record from the past 5 years (All Simulated). As well as what our team looks like now. If there isn't a note on a how a player was acquired then he was groomed by the O's. Just a great set of sliders!!!! Playing my Rangers franchise I am 25-14 and just swept 4 games from the Astros in Houston. Verlander was pitching for the Astros in last game of series, took a 3-0 lead into the ninth, with 14 SO. I came up in the ninth, and had a walk a infield hit and a 3 run homer from Gallo, then had a double and a single all of this with 2 outs. Love this game and especially love these sliders!!!

Hey everyone , forgive me if I'm no supposed to post questions of this type on here but I'm new and don't know where to go with this . Please if there's a site/ forum for me to go with my questions can someone tell me where at ? I just got a question or 2 to ask the vets who play this game yearly. I'm a FIFA player who needed a change and picked this game up for the 1st time since the show 16 and don't remember a thing about this game . In FIFA players that hit 30 years old start to drastically decline in stats , how does the decline work in this game ? And how does potential work ? If a guy is 26 and rated 70 with B potential , what is he going to look like in a season or 2? Perfect example here , I'm the Jays and is this trade a win for me ? It looks like a win but is it really ? Again I apologize if I'm not supposed to post this here

                            Dbaja,

Player development is pretty fluid. The potential grades will fluctuate depending on player performance (so, a borderline B potential guy could drop to a C potential or improve to an A). Older players will regress, but it does tend to vary as to when it starts (i.e. it isn't "hit 30 and fall off of a cliff"). Typically, players in their late 20s tend to stay pretty stable for a few years (though some guys will fall-off in the early 30s).

If it sounds like it's all over the place, it kinda is....and that's really the beauty. I will say that high performance by a player will often (not always) stave-off regression (as will training).

As for that deal...you ARE taking on more money (though 2.6 million isn't crazy). Make sure you check out the contracts as well, as if they are pending Free Agents, you may have to re-sign them for a lot more. Both guys may improve a bit, but they probably will not blossom into mid-80s overall guys either.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Gotcha , thanks . Such a diffrence from FIFA , Wish FIFA was like this , where the performance of a player actually matters . And the scouting system is really a nice change aswell . Having a blast with this so far . Thanks again

The player regress isn't as bad as people in the main forum make it. I've had +30 players regress and still have good seasons. My opinion is, I think the regress plays out well. Players on teams wont regress as fast as someone sitting in free agency. I think the game plays that out perfectly.

As for the trade, Matz is more money, so make sure your covered ok affording him and if he is just a rental for the year or potential re-sign. Pitchers are always worth more in this game. Something else to consider at contract time. I like the trade if your looking for a pitching boost. Me, I would throw in a avg minor leaguer just to help the cpu lol, but the trade looks fair to me.

Madden get rid of the extras (SS/XF, HFA, media, scenarios, game plan) or turn them down considerably.
