This is a pretty engrossing narrative. Kintzler's reticence to re-sign puts a major monkey-wrench in the team's plans for long-term contention, I'd imagine, and sets up an interesting off-season.

The games have been a blast to watch, and oh, what a post-season run you're set up for this year!

Appreciate ya EB, and I can't wait to see how the postseason unfolds.

I think the Kintzler situation is going to be VERY interesting- especially if we win it all!

It's amazing what ridiculously balanced game play does for a franchise mode. I'm just really buying into this world and trying to come up with these interesting little wrinkles to keep it engaging.

Even with just an audience of 2 or 3 folks, its so fun to share this with friends.

I'm loving following your franchise too; we're using the same roster, same sliders and our leagues are SO different already - by next season, they will be two very distinct universes.

But I just love SO much how much the players and the ratings stand-out over the long haul. Just enough variance to keep things interesting but it's a fun challenge (unless your team's pitching staff is as putrid as mine is right now, lol).

I'm nearing the finish line in Year 1 of my Fictional Braves franchise; only 20 games left. Still playing every pitch of every game.

It's been a rough season (we're 63-79 right now) but we're definitely going to plow through the rest of our games and I think I'll be done by the end of the month.

From there, I'll dive straight into the off-season and Year 2. We have a ton of room in our budget and will be targeting some significant upgrades (particularly pitching). We'll HAVE to make progress next season or begin running the risk of being fired after Year 3.

On the slider front - absolutely no changes needed right now. SDS has done a masterful job of not touching the gameplay for offline players all year and I suspect the patch cycle will slow-down a lot. We'll be locked-in all the way until MLBTS21 drops next Spring!

I'm really thinking hard about giving Bacon's roster a try for something different along with your slider set. My one question is, since you use directional hitting, do you influence your swings? Do you use the left stick and hold it in one certain direction based on the count or do you just not touch the left stick?

I 100% use the stick, I mean, you miss out on SO much when you don't use the directional influences.

Now, don't get me wrong, I still use a 'no influence' swing a lot (which is, in of itself, an influence). But, as you learn your hitters (which can sometimes take a good few months of games) you begin to really understand what does/does not work for each hitter on your team. To be clear, it is NOT a count-specific thing for me; it's situational/hitter-based.

Wanted to pop in and say how much fun I'm having with these. Using All-Star hitting and All-Star+ pitching. The variance is great, never know when either side will break out for a big inning or come up with the clutch hit.

After I settled into these sliders I started a new franchise with Bacon's Rockies. They fit how I like to play with a host of contact hitters and speed to send in motion. Have enjoyed following along with others progress in their Bacon universe, including some replays of your streams Josh. You really shook that Braves team up, look forward to seeing what moves you make in the offseason!

Glad to hear people are watching some of those past broadcasts. I'm not hopping on too often as I wrap up Year 1 (though I will likely pop on for a couple more games for Year 1).

I'm not sure how my off-season will go; I'll either take a lot of time or I'll blow through it in 2 hours (past precedent says the latter, lol).

I've already got a pretty good idea already of who exactly I want to target in the offseason; it's just a question of who will be available. The one question I have (for myself) is if I'd shell-out two top-dollar contracts to SPs in the same off-season? So, if both Ethan Kintzler AND Will Palmer were available, do I go for both? I have not decided that just yet; I honestly don't think it will happen.

Where it will get interesting/scary is if none of the top SPs are available in the FA pool (or if I can't get one of them); I'd have to stop and really consider things. The last thing you want to do is to pay top-shelf money for a guy who is more of a number 2 starter. So, in this icky scenario, we may consider making a significant trade - subtracting some offense/prospects for pitching.

It's going to be interesting no matter what.....

Long way from my offseason but I could see how an investment in pitching could pay off with this roster and sliders. You can get shelled if a guy's control wanes and definitely have to be strategic on when to use certain guys.

Plus with the variety in ratings I'm sure you can find guys to fill a lineup for cheaper that fit a specific need. I think offseasons will be a blast with this roster, interested to see what direction you go.

I'll be very interested to see how your FA period goes. If I have it right, Keys cost you Cabrera and then some, so the question of the relative value of offensive acquisitions at the cost of reliable pitching, and the question of finding the right balance for the penant run are compelling ones from a GM perspective.
