I'll be completely honest; most folks have had a pretty easy time pitching with this game in general. The current OP is formulated to make it tougher but it's definitely not impossible. Just note that the quality of your pitchers is really going to dictate your likelihood of success.

If your issue is mainly with Classic pitching; go to the second post of this thread. I give a brief primer on how classic pitching works. I don't know if it will help you or not, but it's a starting point.

Yeah I'm always on classic pitching and I'm still finding it way too easy even on HOF.

Best pitching tip I can think of is to stop trying to throw unhittable pitches all the time and instead throw pitches you want them to hit.

Very tempting to say to yourself: “I want this changeup to drop off the table so I get a swing and miss.” Instead say: “if I put the changeup *right* here, it’s a chopper to first.”

I’m throwing the second pitch nine times out of ten, if you know what I’m saying. Very subtle tweak in your approach can make all the difference. Same for hitting, no doubt.

        ***

Edit: oh and I most definitely have starter stamina at 6. Having a guy be gassed to the point of total ineffectiveness after 72 pitches or something is absurd. The counterpoint here is that it’s from holding the button too long; but I need lots of variance in hold/release timing while pitching else I’m just tapping 80% of the time and that’s lame imo.

        Just one man’s opinion.
I don’t actually care about any of this.

Josh, I know this is a slider thread for ‘21 but I still play my franchise in ‘20 sometimes even though I have both. Would you recommend making the fielding reaction/speed to 4/4 in 20 as well as both sets are very similar?

Thanks Josh and Detroit for your tips/advice. I will say that I am using the O's for my YouTube franchise and....our pitching staff is really not good least in my opinion. So that definitely has a lot to do with it I think.

In regards to Tigers' comment about the pitching style, I will say that I DEFINITELY pitch with an idea of where I want the ball to be if that makes sense. I know where certain pitches are "supposed to go" in terms of location. It's a hard habit to break like you said and I'm going to work on trying to get better about it. As much as I want to say "I feel like I have no control over where the pitches end up and it's not fun". Number one, that's just baseball not every pitch is going to go where you want it and number two that would make things "too easy" when you think about it.

The variety is what we're all looking for when it comes to this because that's sports. It's just difficult at times to see that in the moment ya know?

Definitely not. We tried that for 20 and it was a disaster as it amped-up offense way too much.

Umm...yeah....you're going to get hammered using the O's...Means is serviceable and that's about it.

(and that's the entire point/design of this setup)

would these work fine on HOF for both hitting and pitching? I like the methodology about making player ratings matter, but my skill level would prob be too easy on AS. Thanks Josh!

I suggest you find a set designed around HOF.

Has anyone else tried using this set with dynamic difficulty still on? I leave it at default (I also did with Armor & Swords sets in previous years), and it really works out well for me. I think it’s a better tool than some people realize.

I 100% think it could work, but I'll tell you why I personally don't like it.

If I'm in a slump, I want to work my way out of it on my own terms without an artificial "help" (by a drop in difficulty). If I am doing really well either hitting or pitching (which are often byproducts of a weak schedule), I personally feel that I should be "rewarded" for that as 'regression to the mean' will ultimately kick in.

I don't feel that keeping dynamic on long-term allows the ebbs and flows to be as pronounced during the course of a season.

It kinda does the opposite for me. I’ll get into a good groove (winning) then a slight adjustment by dynamic difficulty like an increase in pitch speeds will happen causing me to change my approach. It gives it a game by game or series by series adjustment feel for me. I completely understand what you’re saying. I just prefer it to changing difficulties/searching for a slider set with higher difficulty. Just when I think maybe your set is too easy it adjusts and I’m cool again. Trying multiple slider sets and going back and forth can be exhausting.

I get what you're saying. But what I'm saying is that it WILL happen regardless once you're dialed-in. In the past, I've gone on 12-14 game win streaks only to go through losing 9 of my next 10....all of that without touching a slider/difficulty.

But...the real key is to have that starting point difficulty. You will find difficulties that you predominantly stay in (with occasional excursions). Once you find that predominant difficulty, that is when you need to lock it down and then allow 'regression to the mean' to take over naturally.

Yeah I understand. What’s interesting is even though I have dynamic difficulty updates on and set to progress I don’t see anything when it changes. I only know it’s changed because the game will indicate I need to save my sliders. Do the progress updates not show when you’re in franchise? I had intended to do what you say in the OP and turn it off once I felt comfortable difficulty wise but I don’t see the updates so I just left dynamic difficulty at default like I did in previous years.

I’m still consistently getting low scoring games using the op with all star plus. Every game is like 1-0,2-0, or 2-1. I’m using the sf giants. So far I’m 23-12. Any suggestions to improve offense
