Thanks Josh for all your hard work but once I lose interest in a game it’s hard for me to get back into it.

Sports game are becoming a real

    Chore to play these days.

I hear you there. I haven’t played it much at all myself. At first I was excited and rolling with it, I was ahead of the real life schedule then something just changed and I’m like meh. This year just has a different feeling when it comes to playing the show and I don’t know why..

I have to agree with you. Game played great at first, but then something changed and now there is no variety.

Interesting seeing everyone having issues with how the game is playing. It’s playing just fine for me. Only thing I do differently than the OP is I leave Dynamic Difficulty at default. I’m getting a nice variety of games playing with the Rays.

Not allowing enough runs over a long stretch of time is one thing, but if you’re going 10+ games without getting the bats going a little you probably just need to drop to Veteran hitting. Like seriously.

“All my games are low-scoring” just says to me your hitting sucks, and that the AI isn’t attacking you like they would if you actually scored runs.

I don’t believe in comeback code but it’s inarguable that this game is coded to keep things interesting, to the degree that it will mostly likely never let you win 30 games in a row, and will most likely never allow the AI to smack you around with cooked numbers inning after inning.

When you suck at the plate the game is well aware of this and isn’t just going to pound the crap out of you every game.

Conversely, when you ARE hitting, the AI will likely start to hit as well. Again, not comeback code per se but the AI absolutely changes its approach at the plate based on how many runs it needs, as will your approach to pitching change when it’s 6-0 vs when it’s 2-1 and 1-0, etc.

Its more than just “sucking” like come on lol. You can have all 3-0 counts and somehow you’re grounding into 4 double plays after taking a a few walks.. I’ve seen some “high” scoring games, but mostly its been 3-1, 2-1.

It’s not hard to score runs on AS. Agree to disagree. What I was offering was the suggestion that the AI offenses will perform better once you start performing better, so the “no game variety” issue is only happening because of humans not scoring runs. Start scoring runs to prove me wrong instead of “bro that double play I hit into wasn’t my fault at all bro.”

This is a darn near perfect segue into something I wanted to post about today.

Bacon's rosters are indeed fantastic for separating yourself from real life; but there's something beyond that.

Rosters based on real life players have one massive flaw; they're built around mimicking real life players. So, to get everything reasonably in-line from a stat-output perspective, the range of ratings needed may need to be a lot more narrow (instead of encompassing a large portion of the 100 point rating scale).

                One example:

I was just playing around last night and looking at ratings. I sorted the number of players at the MLB level (non-legends) with K/9 ratings under 50.

                - Brinskie's roster only had a handful (less than a dozen or so - and I suspect SDS roster is similar - so don't take it as a 'dig' on his roster)
                - Bacon's roster had over 60 (which is about 15% of MLB pitchers - assuming 13 man pitching staffs for each team).

That's a lot of added variety in Bacon's roster right there...low-K, pitch-to-contact guys that are effectively missing in 'real life' rosters.

The problem is that with the distribution being shifted upwards in the "real" rosters is that you're effectively only seeing about half of the ratings spectrum at the level the majority of us play in (MLB). K/9 is a powerful modifier in of itself and I strongly suspect that it is a large part of the issue many of us have identified with respect to the offensive environment.

The interesting thing is that you don't see this issue nearly as much playing vs the CPU in offline DD (and I play the same 'clean screen' setup there). Even on All Star, the CPU can definitely be a threat. I had thought that this was due to DD being on competitive mode. But, when testing out default AS on competitive in franchise; it was very much back to the same 'issues' we've been discussing ad nauseum. My suspicion is that the generally better vision/contact ratings for DD 'cards' helps to offset the generally overpowering K/9 values.

The obvious solution is a en masse edit of the rosters - but that is asinine work-wise and we begin impacting simulation stats (which, I mean, I could care less but others do).

The ultimate answer is that we need to directly offset the K/9. But this will not be a simple change that we can drop into the current set; it will be a bit of a re-org of how we're setting things up here. I already know the direction I want to explore here' once I flesh something out; I'll let y'all know.
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Detroit Tigers made a solid point, albeit indelicately, that the CPU definitely adjusts throughout the game.

The thing is, if you score a few runs, they get more aggressive, which often leads to even more flimsy swings. Sure, they connect on some of them; but it's not just as simple as "score more, they will score more"...

Would these slider sets work for RTTS as well as it does for franchise?

I'm looking for realistic slider sets for RTTS.

Josh I'm really enjoying the gameplay with your adjusted sliders with the games I've played so far I want to start off by giving you the kudos you deserve especially for this being my first time using sliders and playing The Show since 2016.

I have a couple questions for you regarding difficulty and things like that.

I know my O's....well suck and I'm ok with losing but I personally am having a difficult time hitting and scoring runs. I've only won one of the five games I've played to this point in my franchise. (the other wins was simulated and so far we're 4-13) The game I won was a walk off 6-5 against the Red Sox who are really good in this franchise so far. I had 9 hits including a home run. My first question is, do you think dropping the hitting difficulty to veteran would help me work on getting back into the swing (heh) of things regarding plate discipline and things like that? Or do you just recommend I stick with All-Star. Cause I've actually never played on anything higher than veteran before this slider set.

Second question, also involves hitting as well. If I'm having trouble catching up to or just reading the ball in general would lowering the pitch speed a click help or does that affect too much to move?

Pitching is just a crap shoot for me because I feel like a lot of it has to do with the nature of baseball and the fact that the O's staff just isn't great. And I just lost Means for 6+ months [emoji22] send help boys....it's gonna be a loooooong first season.

Observation: complaints about low-scoring games are coming from people who can't hit. Fact. Therefore, until you start hitting, shut up about low scoring games or drop difficulty. what rosters are everyone using with these sliders? I am looking for long term franchise without inflated prospect ratings. I dont LOVE ridins v2....I realy like Brinskie11's 1000 hour roster but not sure if anyone has tried using them with these sliders.

What do yall suggest? i just want to pick a team and start my franchise already, tired of obsessing over sliders and rosters. thanks!
