ASB has flaws, MVP has flaws.

MVP is getting more press because it has added so many never before seen features in the game. Let's face it playing as a minor league team is a big deal. They've added a franchise mode that's a big uncertainty and that has peaked people's interest. And they claimed (supported by OS impressions) that the gameplay is much improved.

Now from ASB standpoint. I can't tell you off the top of my head why they have done different from last year. Okay so there's a fielder cam. They claim to have better AI but I've heard that one before from other companies and now I need to see more.

It just seems to me that ASB has done a quite of bit of tweaking. THat would be fine in of itself if it's competitors jsut did tweaking. But MVP from the impressions made huge strides and that's what is fueling the hype.

Now none of this has anything to do with how good the games will be. But if I were ASB I would make sure every major sports gaming outlet gets new screens, movie and a beta. That seems to be MVP's way of generating hype.

- online head-to-head
- exclusive TWIB features
- Deepest franchise mode
- Two-Man commentary

- Over 80 fully animated stadium
- Most realisic baseball experience

Now MVP ( I had to selectively edit from the paragraphs included.

- Franchise mode with team chemistry, club goals etc.

- The minors

Online Play - Well just depends on what console you own. This is a game seller no doubt and if you have an Xbox and want online play MVP is not a choice.
Manager Mode - ASB has this is some fashion but MVP is marketing it.
Cooperstown Collection - ASB heavily marketed this last year (still has it this yet), this year it's MVP.

Other than online play and a fielder cam there's not much that ASB has done other the tweak. And tweaking isn't going to cause as much hype and overhauling. MVP had the overhaul thing going but it also has added some features we haven't seen before or have been greatly enhanced. Minors, I was never able to play as a minor team before MVP. The sim out/in feautre. I would compare this equally with ASB's fielder cam. It's not going to sell many games but it's a nice feature.

So it seems that all the hype is being generated because MVP has seen the biggest overhaul of all the baseball games this year and that has peaked a lot of interest. And ASB sure sounds like it's more of the same. That's not bad but it's not going to generate a lot of hype.

This isn't a debate on what game is better, no one knows that. This is a debate on hype which ultimately leads to game sales. EA Sports is hyping up their game. Acclaim has made it sound like it's more of the same and fans of ASB will be pleased. Will ASB fans were going to buy the game anyway what has ASB done compared with MVP that is getting people on the fence to buy their game?

It's NOT EA who is hyping MVP! It's the game sites where we are getting our information and/or videos from!

Hell, even OS is hyped about the game... but what exactly is EA doing to hype up their game? I haven't seen an ad yet for the game.... what about commercials? Nothing as of yet.

Remember... it's not EA hyping the game up, it's the sites you're visiting, and that includes the people who have played it!

- Manager Mode - Nothing New, in fact, not done as well as ASB IMO.

- The minors, Playing as the minors is new and pretty huge to a lot of people. ASB added the ability to play as minor leaguers in spring training and use attribute points towards that player. I don't see this even listed on the ASB list, weird.
- Pick you park - some stadium feature. Not sure what this means, but we all know ASB has a ton of classic and original stadiums that can be used for expansion teams, and they don't need to be unlocked.

I agree. That was the whole point of this thread. I believe, in the end, MVP will be more about hype than about realism and true and fulfilling gameplay.

I think that's what is making everyone so hyped. They WANT to try out the gameplay advances I mentioned earlier. I really hate when people say "Well MVP has Big Play Control!" or something like that...

Ya know what? Who cares! All that is doing is enabling the user to control his dives on the field for the most part. (Yes, it can also control slides, it's best feature, IMO!) But all it is is a fancy name...

I think that's what is making everyone so hyped. They WANT to try out the gameplay advances I mentioned earlier. I really hate when people say "Well MVP has Big Play Control!" or something like that...

Ya know what? Who cares! All that is doing is enabling the user to control his dives on the field for the most part. (Yes, it can also control slides, it's best feature, IMO!) But all it is is a fancy name...
