Isn't that all that matters though?

Would I like to see some of the stuff you've mentioned fixed? Sure, but when it comes to sports games, in the past few years I've come to the realization that I want solid gameplay first and foremost. Everything else is a tertiary concern to me.

My "whining" has nothing to do with whose playing, anyone can play it and have the exact same issues I see in those videos.

Like I said, I gave them a free pass on those things because it was Brinkmans first year and it wasn't a full development cycle. The things annoyed me but I always thought they would be fixed next year so I played on. Now that I've seen the same errors, I have to admit it bothers me more this year.

I mean they seriously, if they would have put me in a room with this game 5 months ago, and let me play it, within 10 minutes I could have a list of easy stuff they could fix. It sure seems to me they don't listen to the fans at all.

BTW I just analyzed the video with Jeter to find out why this game looks so weird. Turns out this is not a night game. If you listen carefully, the public address announcer says that the first pitch is at 1:07. So I suppose either the lighting was totally screwed up, or it's an overcast sky with totally screwed up lighting (or it could be 1:07 AM with screwed up lighting).

I guess we still have yet to see what a night game looks like.

Framerate and player movement is much smoother with the low-res vids, no question. Looks very nice. Thanks to whoever pointed that out.

So now we have to buy a standard tv to play the game?

Oh and probably a pretty stupid complaint, but I think Jeter's home run was a little bit underestimated. I guess it's better than an overestimation, but what I mean is perhaps the game programs where the ball first hits instead of where the ball would have landed if not obstructed.

Just a thought, because I noticed this as well. Is it possible the player diving back into second was player controlled? Maybe this was a two player game on the same console.

When I saw it, I was a bit...distraught (maybe not the right word), but when that same player tried to take 3rd on the ground ball, it seemed to me this was either horrible AI or the player at second was controlled by a human.

2K baseball has all kinds of quirky player behavior of this sort. Note in one vid the 2B guy calling to the CF to toss the ball back in on a HR ball. Last year the CPU 2B would sometimes run like h*ll to cover 2nd with nobody on after the easy putout at first - for no logical rhyme or reason, in other words. It's as if the post-play CPU AI behavior programming is entirely random, rather than play and situation-specific.

I'm sick of these same errors being in the game every single year while they redo the batting, redo the pitching, redo the fielding, redo the baserunning, blah blah blah. How about fixing the smaller things that immerse you into the atmosphere over slightly adjusting the hitting system, or the baserunning? I mean when I hit a homerun, and I see the outfielder run into the wall 3 times in a row and see the SS calling for a cutoff when he just watched it sail out of the stadium, I know 100% I'm playing a video game. The immersiveness is gone at that point.

Do you see where I'm going with this? Or are you going to take the fanboy aproach and just turn a blind eye to it?
I agree also but they should have work on gameplay first last year then worry about graphics. Any game can look pretty but without good AI and gameplay its nothing.
Then they work on all new pitch , bat , throw and field but what good is that when they didnt fix the other stuff first ! spit tape and glue patch work .

Well you might be doing that alot this year as I did the same and bought a PS3 and Da Show also.

I'm no longer worried about the Choppyness of the game. Watched in lower rez and those problems disappeared. Whew. I was pretty sure something was wrong with the way they captured it but this definitely puts my fears to rest.

As for the rest of the game I will hold my thoughts till after I play the demo. For the most part the game looks fine to me. I didn't expect the game to look different than 2k7. It wasn't supposed to look any different just FEEL different.

I will be very happy if this is 2k7.5 as all I expect are

                                1. smoother animations and gameplay (60fps PLEASE)
                                2. momentum fielding, running into wall removed*
                                3. annoying glitches that plagued fielding last year
                                4. better fielding camera (didn't play after post patch last year)
                                5. strike zone fix (hated the oversized strikezone last year)
                                6. tone down home runs (vids scared me until i realized IGN players sucked)
                                7. new pitching is as good as advertised
                                8. hit variety including more foul balls and different types of hits off the bat
                                9. better baserunning controls (sounds way easier this year with left stick and tap base to go to)
                                10. fielding throw meter (MVP style! w/ stick ability to miss throwing perfect to base!)

This is all I need to make me happy and it looks like all this have been addressed (well, maybe more ONLINE options would be nice). Homerun celebrations, organ, music, menus, announcers, sound of bat and all that stuff don't matter to me if the above is not happening. I will happily wait for 2k9 for that stuff.

                                * I do believe the red marker to indicate where homerun will be has been taken away. The red marker I'm seeing is ABOVE THE OF and not where ball is going to land.
