That's not to say I haven't gotten ahead in a count, just not on that goal.
Usually when I get that goal, I'll take the first pitch. If its a strike, I ignore the goal and just try to get on base. If the pitch count works in my favor, so be it. I'm not going to take questionable pitches, hoping to get the goal.

I guess I've never considered a full count to really be ahead in the count, but looking back on all the years of baseball if you consider they call 2-2 even, I guess it would be considered such, I just don't see it that way

As for ignoring hitting goals, I do that when there are guys in scoring position if it's more beneficial to drive in runs etc

Re: MLB 2k12 How's Your My Player Going Thread?

I got transfered to Rockies AAA team after april cause of that rookie season slump, even though i was on a hot streak at that time. After usual air hitting at first, i gotten hotter later on and finished with 51 rbis out of 44 games, 11 HR's, .320 AB % and around .580% slugg. Since i request a trade to Yankees, i am now again in majors with Yankees, and i've hit 1 hr, about 5-6 rbis and have batting average of .270% in a couple of games(overall season numbers are 11 hrs, batt average is the same and 34-35 rbis, not sure)
We are division leaders, and i am hitting 5th in lineup. Switched to 3rd base, somehow atm more appealing to me to play that position.
But i really want to hit more HR's. I have 86 righties power, 79 lefties. Contact not too great, between 60-65 iirc, and eyes are between 70-75. What should i improve for more HR's?

I've got all my requirements for a call-up done.. except one.. stuck at 9 home runs and of course it's a >10 stat.. hit 4 in one 'week' of games and went 10 games without any again

Yeah, first time i was in AA, and 2nd time when i was sent back to AAA, both times finished all call up tasks, and was stuck for a couple of games at 9 homers.

Finally hit the 2 home runs needed for the call-up and got 2 quick (ok, so they're all pretty quick in My Player if you're not the pitcher) games in 3/8 with a double and 2 singles so far.. since the call-up was August 29th I guess 'IRL' he'd make the playoff roster but I'm playing as a CUB and they're 10+1/2 back in 4th in the central.

First thing I noticed about Wrigley is just how tough they made hitting in the shade when the ball is thrown from sunlight.. always see it talked about on TV, how you don't pick up the ball from the pitcher's hand.

As for hitting at Wrigley.. I can't even see the ball in day games with the strike zone box..regardless of shadows or anything when I'm playing.. 3 for last 17 AB's

I tried playing Catcher and it was pretty easy. It did get frustrating though when the pitcher would take all the dribbles in front of the mound.

Playing as a Power hitter sucked as I couldn't hit any HRs and my Contact was in the 40's so I couldn't get on base either.

Fielding points seems almost impossible to get unless you jack up the Speed slider to max and steal all the time.

I would almost think the only fielding you'd be able to make as a catcher is trying to throw out base stealers and catching the occasional popup at the plate .. if the pitcher is taking all the little dribblers in front of the place especially...

quick edit/addition: just hit my first grand slam.. you'd think Gary Thorne would be happier for me .. and when you hit a grand slam.. you should have 3 guys high-fiving you after since there were 3 on base at the time.

The only fielding you do as a Catcher are foul ball pop-ups, bunts, and dribblers in front of the plate. Pop-ups are easy, but sometimes the 1B, 3B, or Pitcher will steal them from you even though you're waiting for the ball. They will literally just come running over and grab it from you. On bunts and dribblers the Pitcher will take it and throw the runner out. Gets frustrating really fast.

I think it might be interesting to be able to play a catcher that actually gets to call the game for his pitchers, but not so much one who catches a popup every now and then

That's why I picked Catcher to begin with and now I might switch to another position just to see what you actually get to do for their "drills". I played all the initial AA games and a couple weeks of Spring Training and not once did I get to throw a runner out. I'm starting to think that they never steal against a My Player Catcher. If you want an easy My Player (defensively anyway), pick Catcher. You do practically nothing and are guaranteed at least 75+ points every game.

I've finished season 2. I was really pissed off, because after a hot streak i've gotten colder and my stats droped. And when your stats are low, you really see the difference... So my regular 82 rating became 69 and i was on a cold streak for a month and a half. Finished season with 23 HR and 70 rbis, hitting 5th and 6th in a lineup. In playoffs, my rating got stable and i got much better at bat. Playoffs alone got 10 rbis and 1 hr with .370 BA. My Yankees won world series. How stupid that part for a hall of fame goals is with playoff part. You have to fill 2 out of 5 goals. That makes winning the world series useless, since you've obviously already went to playoffs and won division series... Thinking of starting over as a pitcher or speedster.

Oh yeah. New season started, i've gotten into AAA again, even though they promoted me to my original position(teixiera got moved i think). My organisation rank is 4th, so i have no idea why they did it. Started out strong in AAA, 1st game was 1.000. Atm have 1 HR and 9 rbis in 5 games.

Not sure if this applies to your player, but if you're a pitcher, it's really hard to get that goal since you'll only really see strikes.

Here's a tip: as a pitcher, start your career in the NL, and put all your batting points into Power against Righties (player of the game gives +100 skill points making this easier to do when starting out). Then power swing every time and soon you'll be at 50+ power and getting doubles, triples, and home runs. You can do this fairly regularly on Pro and higher difficulties. With my latest player, I drove in two runs on my first at-bat with a power rating of 30 (on pro).
