Re: MLB 2k12 How's Your My Player Going Thread?

I made a CF named Flint Thurston he is 6'5 220. I know he is pretty big for the outfield but if you look at the young outfielders of today there all on the larger size. I chose leadoff hitter to get my speed and contact higher up. I did a random select and landed on the Phillies, hopefully going to beable to take Victorinos spot soon.

In the minors I played 37 games while batting .409 with an OBP of .421. I had 0 HRs, but had 12 Doubles, 4 Triples, and 21 RBIs. I had 12 SB in 18 attempts (I tried stealing when I shouldn't have lol.) After getting my 21st run I was called up and put into LF due to the fact Victorino is a 82 and Im only a 66. But so far in the Majors im batting .333 in 4 games with and OBP of .500, Ive gotten a hit and been walked for all 4 games.

Maybe I just got the technique wrong though?!
I have a closer I made him a Clutch Closer, If you know what your doing and have the right pitches you should never blow a save, but you will spend atleast 2 seasons in the minors. Plus if you dont like being a set-up man choose a team with either an old closer or a horrible closer like Colorado

I kinda got tired hitting all the time(less then 60 games, 31 HR 100+ RBI's 98 overall, in 450 games i've played in his career) so i've put a rest on my Phillies slugger. Made a starting pitcher for Colorado Rockies(same place where slugger started, i really don't know why ) . So far so good, 2-0 w/l, era is something ridiciolously low. But i have a problem. I use classic pitching cause my controller sucks big time. So i cannot perform motions properly. I even have problem with proper placing of pitches in the zone with left stick 2. Annoys the hell out of me. I really want to play with total pitching, this way it just seems too easy...

The biggest thing I'm finding with the right-stick pitching is you better get your composure stats up pretty quick even though you need other stats to get to the majors.. the motions are pretty easy.. but when you start getting hit and can't aim even slightly because the ball is shaking all over the place it's tough.

I think it's really dumb that your manager or pitching coach doesn't come out at least once to calm you down like you can do in Franchise.. hitting the 'back' button for a mound visit.. instead you're just stuck out there.

So, my SS/2B for the Nats has 30 hits in 30 games.. batting exactly .250.. BUT only 6 runs scored.. and 2 of those were my 2 home runs.. so 28 hits and only been knocked in 4 times 15 stolen bases now that
I'm always in scoring position since I've gotten the base running stats up and finally figured out when to release the right trigger at the start of the pitching motion.. DOH! as Homer would say.

I know .250 isn't all that great, still working on laying off of pitches without changing the sliders to t-ball, right down the middle cheese. 14 K's in the 30's games.

Add: Just got promoted to my primary position, so not the 2nd baseman anymore, now the SS.. finally been hitting and had a 1400 point day with a clutch game winning rbi and key game .. still can't lay off stuff out of the strike zone

My Closer spent only 20 games in the AA (17 of 19 saves, 2.13 ERA) and then called up to MLB in september as set-up man of Chicago WS.

Agree. But I think you can do this in the Postseason games (or only in World Series games). I saw that info table with my pitch count and mound visit button when my pitcher had tired in world series game. But I did not tried to hit that button.

Not sure if anyone brought this up, but just how lazy ARE the developers.. you set up a separate stats page for the playoffs.. yet because 'My Player' was 'DNQ' for regular season AVG type stats without the minimum # plate appearances, you keep him 'DNQ' for playoff stats/leaders rather than set it up correctly?

I made a closer for the whitesox and my only complaint is that i got brought up to the majors way too fast. It took me just over a month and my guy is still horrible (overall 62). To top it all off im just a relief pitcher now and they only play me 8th innings on certain games.

I'm not sure there's enough words to describe how much I love this mode.
My power-hitting 2B really struggled out of the gate. I think I had 1 HR and 6RBI's in the first 20-or-so games.
But slowly and surely I built him up and now he's a AA-machine!
I have 15HR's and over 50 RBI's in about 55 games. I simply cannot be stopped!
My speed is atrocious and my arm isn't all that great, but I'm straight-up mashing that ball.

The other night some loser tried to throw a slider but it hung too long and I sent it for a free trip to Cuba.
The next AB, with the bases juiced, I saw a 92MPH fastball on the inside of the plate...YARD!
Somebody better tell "Meat" you shouldn't be hanging no weak sauce over the dish when Big Daddy's at the plate!
                      Oh yeah!

P.S. I believe I'm playing on the easiest setting. Haha! Don't judge me!

I tried creating a starting pitcher, but I was just getting mad at how the manager was pulling me out either too late or too early. Plus the fielders were just moronic most of the time. I might try a hitter at some point. I just wish I could level up my pitcher a little faster. Not many times is a guy a top draft pick and a 60 overall in the minors.

You start by thinking that overall rating includes potential. When a player 1st enters majors, prolly 1/200 is ready to make significant impact on a team. 2nd, trust me when i tell you this, you will find yourself with 86 overall rating in a no time and climbing. So, appreciate small steps. I was so happy when my slugger first entered majors. The sheer difference of having commentators in the game... Major league feel. Difference from AA 75-80 mph fastball pitchers and 90-100 Major one's... I loved those little things. My slugger is now 99 overall, has 99 rightie power, have 35 hrs in 66 games, holds major league record in consecutive hits with 120-130(don't remember, duration of one whole season from when i got promoted the last time from minors), which he will prolly break since this whole season again i've hit at least once per game and i am currently on a pace to break almost every single season hitting record in averages, also have 120 rbis 48 steals and 8 million votes for all-star game while the next guy next to me has barely 2. I have 85 speed^80 acceleration on a slugger... My 1st stolen base in his career was when i tried to stole home plate, and pitcher overthrow the plate(lucky me). I still remember my 1st homer for Rockies, and i still remember my 1st minor league walk-off... Appreciate the moments in your career, not your overalls.. Trust me, sometimes i want to end my hitting streak by not hitting. I've even tried once and i got walked . Only reason why i didn't try it so far is because i want to set all records for a season and to get hall of fame credentials. Only ones i miss are career related though.

My next slugger is going to be on a hall of fame difficulty most def. I want to feel the pain again of not hitting.

Also, game has this stupid thing. I hit .480 and have 4 K's during this season and i've been walked 4 times for now... Go figure. I want to play total control pitcher, but that ain't gonna happen 'till i get new controller...

Re: MLB 2k12 How's Your My Player Going Thread?

I'm currently ~270 games played on my 3B/SS slugger Johan Smith. I lept from Double AA right into the Majors after a fantastic start for the Reading Phillies. I finished up my first season hitting only .199 for the Philadelphia Phillies. We lost in the Divisional round of the play-offs.

I was then traded to the LA Dodgers to bat 4th after Dee Gordon, Andre Ethier and Matt Kemp. We won 90 games in my second season, and I led the major leagues in batting average, hits and runs batted in. I won my first MVP award before I turned 21. The Brewers won their Wildcard game only to lose to us in the Divisional. The Houston Astros were too much for us, though, and we ended up losing 4-1 to the eventual world champions.

I am now in my third season, second full season in the majors, now with the Boston Red Sox. I'm 21 years old and I'm batting over .500 through a good 20 games or so, so far. I'm hoping to win my first Triple Crown this year, and I'm also hoping to play in my first World Series this year. My overall is 85 but due to my hotstreak I bat with an overall of about 95 every game, with a power rating of ~97 versus most pitchers. I hope to one day break the record for consecutive games with a hit.

I also started a pitcher named Jonny Black. So far I've started 3 games, I think I'm playing for the Double AA team for the Angels, not sure. But so far I'm 2-0 with 0.00 ERA and only a couple hits. ~26K on ~27IP, including one complete game, which I believe was also a shut-out.

I wish progressing a pitcher didn't take so much time. Otherwise I would have definitely pitched with Jonny Black a little more than I hit with Johan Smith. Johan is a sure-fire Hall of Famer, Jonny is still a little early to decide. Wish me luck

Here's an odd one for ya.. my SS is with the Nats.. first game of world series top 9 two outs I get a single with noone on.. Ramos should be up with me on first and instead.. the game ends?? I had to go to the box score to figure out they pinch ran for me, the playoff leader in steals, with Ian Desmond and my game ends.. I would have expected at least some sort of popup box or something about being pinch ran for so I knew what happened

World Series going to game 7 after a 3-1 game lead.. yikes

I think I was punished in games 7.. not once was there a guy on when I got up with 2 outs every time as the 6th batter.. was 2/4 with 2 singles and never got to 2nd base.. foul balls on steal attempts and ground outs to end innings. Oh well.. overall at 77 after rookie season.. one rookie of the week, rookie of the month, 2 players of the week and a player of the month for the 2 months plus post-season. Hit .372 for regular season after getting contact and power stats to 70 then going on a hot streak. 12 HR 45 RBI in the short season. No homers in playoffs.
