Because of the inaccuracies in recording ERA due to the "walking then scoring not counted as earned runs" problem, I'm posting both my runs against & earned runs against through 57 games so you can judge for youself.

    RUNS AGAINST: 292
    RUNS AGAINST-AVERAGE: 5.12

    EARNED RUNS AGAINST: 249
    ERA: 4.37

I've used the 100/45/50 setting from the first game, and my spread of runs given up in a game is 0-14.

So a little over 5 runs per game scored by the CPU...any idea what the league average is. I think 5 could be close.

That's pretty impressive stats right there. Definately worth giving the 100/45/50 a shot with those #'s. Just curious, what team do you use?

nnng07, do you purchase IE Reports before every game? I've been very hesitant to turn IE:ON because it feels almost like a cheat for the CPU(Just my feeling)IMO it's Poorly Implemented. I've also heard that IE doesn't function correctly if you don't purchase Reports before you start your game..

          Thanks

This #'s have come while using the slider on the 1st page of this thread?

Also how many runs a game do you score?

So far I'm liking the 100/45/50 format as well. I don't think you can go wrong with either. Now I'm in a pickle for which to use for my season. You guys are awesome!!!

Re: Creating **The 'PERFECT' Slider Set**

Here's what I've settled on guys. These play about perfect as it's going to get for me. Thanks for all your hard work Nnng and X-Cell.

                      My House Rules for Batting:

-Can only use power swing when the AI throws a meat pitch at anytime (Even 1-0, 2-0, 3-0 counts). That's the only time I allow myself to press up on the swing stick. The rest of the time it must be pull and release tactic.
                      - Must wait until the AI throws one strike in the count to swing, unless it's a meat pitch or a 3-0 count that isn't a meat pitch. I've had 2 so far that the CPU didn't throw down the gut on 3-0, it is rare though. This works the pitcher's pitch total. I had Rich Harden of the A's throw 102 pitches last night in 7 1/3 innings in a 6-3 loss, and Kenny Rogers throw 108 today in 8 1/3 innings in a 3-1 loss to the Tigers.

                      My House Rules for Pitching:

Starters can go as long as they want unless they give up either of the following:

-5 earned runs and I trail by more than 2 runs after the inning is over.
                      -10 hits
-after one of the above, I must take him out at least at the end of that inning and bring in a reliever either at that moment or the beginning of the next inning.

Relievers can go a maximum of 3 innings for long relievers and 2 innings for middle, setups and closers, or one of the following:

-3 earned runs or 6 hits for long relievers
-2 earned runs or 5 hits for middle, setups, and closers
-after one of the above, I must take him out at least at the end of the inning and bring in a new pitcher. Make sure you have another pitcher warming up.

Re: Creating **The 'PERFECT' Slider Set**

OK, I only got to play 4 innings, but everything seems great. I'm in a hurry, so excuse the short stat logging.

                        After 4 innings, O's (me) at A's

                        O's 1 run, 5 hits, 1 error
                        A's 4 runs 6 hits 0 errors

                        Starting Pitching:

                        E. Bedard: 52 pitches, 18 balls, 34 strikes, 6 hits, 4 runs, 3 earned, 0 bb, 3 k's
                        R. Harden: 46 pitches, 11 balls, 35 strikes, 5 hits, 1 run, 1 earned, 0 bb, 3 k's

                        Hitting:

                        BAL: 2 singles, 3 doubles
OAK: 5 singles, 1 home run

I like it a lot. Not a full game, but has a great feel to it. I played exactly the way I have posted in the slider set on page 22.

Thanks highheatking.....I will try those out later. I like your approach though.

One question though: can you still go long without pushing up? Does it happen often?

Thanks highheatkingsb, i'm going to try these when i get home...i use zoom 25, i love the way the pitcher seems very intimidatingly (probably not a word) close...and with your pitch speed at 100, i'll be in heaven.

side note...has anyone ever hit a foul ball with a pretty big guy (griffey jr.) and while running to first base was pretty close to the bat boy...wow he looks like an oompa loompa...ha ha.

i am enjoying these sliders. the only thing i changed was the take ball ones. i found putting these at 70-75, the computer works the count a lot more. i average 4-8 k's a game. i give up about 2-4 walks. the computer also doesn't go up hacking at the first pitch all the time. if you want a challenge and want your pitcher to work more, you should put the take balls at this level. just lower the human fatigue to about 30 because you will be throwing more pitches. i think this a true and accurate representation of what it is like to pitch in the majors. pitchers normally throw a lot of pitches. here are the changes i made.

                              take strike overall-65
                              take strike ahead-60
                              take strike behind-50
                              take ball overall-75
                              take ball ahead-70
                              take ball behind-75

One game I got 171 pitches with my settings... and some games (normal ones) I get the 110 area.
