Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
One other thing, the pitching with these sliders seems to be really tough for me. Any suggestions?Comment

Raise the Pitcher Control slider. I have mine at 40 currently but will be likely dropping it to 35 soon. I couldn't hang with MK's setting but that's expected as he's logged a lot more time with this game than me.Currently Playing:

Yeah, pitching on this set is tough. Heck, this whole set is tough. While you can get a challenge from other sets, what really makes MK's pitching settings stand out is they make you FEAR the league's elite hitters. Other sliders are more forgiving, but if you try to lay one over on a guy like Cabrera, or if you get caught hanging one with a bad gesture, that ball to wind up in the seats.
As further proof of the homers being there (which I doubted for a long time), I followed by three homer game with Utley, Howard, and Rollins with a game where I hit a HR with Brian Schneider, who has a whopping 62 power rating.
It's a great set! I'm gonna have to play my rear off to make it in the post-season.Comment

Joking aside, Schneider is one of those guys that I've always had success with in baseball games. Not sure why, but I came up with a lot of big hits with him when he was on the Mets.Currently Playing:

Guys... What's provided is a final set. They've been tested to death. You can either use them, tweak them, or not use them. But I don't have time to answer certain questions because I've never sat there and counted every foul ball. Last game I played, best guess is somewhere around 25-30 (give or take) USER pitches that were fouled off (not sure for the cpu). Every game is different so I don't know.
If you guys don't like these sliders I recommend reviewing Blazzen's or BigFnJoe's threads. I'm not trying to sound crass, but with all the time I've put into these sliders and the rosters, I've got a wife, kids and a profession - so I can provide limited help. But these sliders are for the HARD CORE baseball gamer who loves simulation baseball, and a fair challenge. They make this game play the most fun and realistic since MVP 05 for the old xbox. They are a final set and no more tweaks will be made. Thanks!STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

I can vouch for MK that these sliders are AWESOME. Like he said, use 'em or don't.Comment

Same here. I've tried 'em all extensively and this is the most balanced and competitive set imo. Great variety of outcomes over the long haul.Comment

The variety comment is spot on. Games never play the same each time which is good. There are times when you will mow down the other team, and times when it's hard to strike guys out. You'll have offense some days and then feel like you can't hit anything or get on base. It's actually very realistic.
I currently have the pitch meter at 35 and that works for me. You still have to work your pitches an be aware of who you are pitching to.
The key is to work the count the best you can when you are batting. The CPU will and does throw balls and if you can be patient (I know that can be hard), you'll see awesome games. If you just go up there and swing and every pitch you'll be in for a long day. I'm no expert but I am slowing getting better at hitting. My approach is to always make the CPU throw a strike before I swing. On 2-0 counts I use discretion on wether to swing or not. Try to think like a hitter and pay attention to the pitch count for the CPU. It's a chess match just like in baseball. You may have to give up some innings to win others and in the end, the game. Don't be afraid to be selective with pitches.
I've had 9-7 games, 10-2 games, and 3-0 games. I've been no-hit until the 6th inning and vice versa. There is variety and that's good. MVP 05 was the last time I had actual fun with a baseball game and now I'm loving this even more. I had MVP 05 for my computer with all the mods and I still think this is a better overall product. I'm getting stats and games like never before. Part of this is 2K, and part of this is due to the great work the slider guys do.
Like mkharsh said these sliders give you a realistic feel. There are others out there that work for people too, but I'm dead set on these. Over time they rock.GT: Herkyalert

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Thanks, Herky... you nailed my thoughts perfectly. You MUST be patient with these sliders. Make the cpu pitcher work. If you don't you'll always have low scoring games. They WILL throw plenty of balls, but you've got to be willing to take pitches. 98% of the time I take the first pitch. But work the counts and I promise if you do you'll be rewarded. Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I actually switched my batting from classic to total control and I'm hitting more homers than I ever did. It was nice not having to think about what kind of swing to use, but if you leave it up to the computer it could induce a fly-ball out whereas if you swung, it might have been a homer. The only swing I use though is the power swing, so that might have something to do with it.Comment

I agree I am having fun games with these also and have recently switched to classic hitting, how are your homeruns, I have 1 since switching to classic thru 10 games, yet when I used total control I was hitting 1-3 a gameComment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
If you guys are having issues with power, just raise the user batting power up 1 click (5 points). Be careful, though. These are largely about timing and pitch selection. Work the counts and they WILL pitch to you. Just like in real baseball, you want that fastball grooved down the middle.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS
