Hey man is there any way to improve the pitch count? I've had some great games so far but I've yet to throw over 100 pitches wiith my starter. My last game alex white went 9 innings and onlty threw 95 pitches. I have user control at 25 and cpu power at 80. Should I lower user control to 20? Or is this a flaw in the game that we can't avoid? Other than that great sliders. My last 3 games I've won 2-0, 7-1 and lost 4-3 in 10 innings. Would like to see me have higher pitch counts and not being able to strike out guys so easily. Thanks!

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Actually this was something that i was worried about... But i think i've found a solution. Most guys are using sliders that has cpu pitch success around 65 and User contact around 30/35. And User pitch control around 30 and Cpu contact around 45/50.

I'm using CPU pitcher success 75 and testing 40/45 user contact. On the other hand I'm testing cpu contact around 55/60 and user pitch control around 40. Power i'm testing 50/55 for user and 75 for CPU

The pitch count is much higher. Other game i had 100 pitches on the 5 inning. You can have some good battles with 11/12 pitches against one batter.... This on booth sides You or the CPU pitching.

So the games can go 150 pitches or more... But some can be around 100/120 .

Hey mickey so could you post the sliders you are using. I'm using harshs sliders on the first page. Cpu contact and power at 55 and 80. User contact / power 35 / 55. I have user pitch control at 25 and pitch meter speed at 75. I've been thinkijg about raising the pitch meter speed up to 85 - 90 to make it harder to throw strikes.

I've had good games with this but I should not be able to strike out 9 guys and throw 9 innings with alex white and only throw 95 pitches

Have you settled on the values for HUM CON and PWR yet? They appear to be in debate (30/35 and 50/55).

I think we're getting close on this concept.

Here's what I'm seeing: user batting contact MUST be at 35 and no lower. I saw a LOT more foul balls with 35 than 30, and this is MUCH more realistic. Here's the problem: lowering user batting power to 50 results in more weakly hit ground balls. BUT, when putting user batting power at 55, it seems like you can drive them all over the place, even off of top-tiered pitchers.

So what I think the key is: cpu pitch success - needs to go back down from 65 to 60.

The numbers I think we'll arrive at are:
              - user batting contact: 35
              - user batting power: 50
              - cpu pitch success: 60

              - - - -

For the guys in the previous couple-three posts: I don't see any way that making user pitch accuracy 30 or above will result in more pitches. I can hit my spots EASILY at 25. I can't recall which pitcher I used, but it was someone's 5th starter. I struck out 11 guys and gave up only 2 hits. In another game, using a 5th starter, I struck out 9 guys and gave up 4 hits. I just don't see it. But if that's where some of you are going you are more than welcome to start a new slider thread. I won't be using those numbers because I think we're pretty close and have put a TON of time and collective research into this. I appreciate your findings...

But The point it's not only the numbers.. But the quality of the game...

I think that with a higher contact for user and cpu and a higher pitch sucess makes a better game in terms of quality and more chalenge, more foul balls... great pitcher/batter battle going with more than 10 pitches...

That's what i'm getting in my games... I found that pitch sucess at 70 and SZ tendency at 50 to the cpu combined with user 45/55 it's giving me great games and numbers

And pitch control at 40 and the cpu 60/75 also... makes more chalenge... any mistake and u get a hit...and also u get your amount of SO, groundballs, flyballs... How a real game looks like.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

But once you "master" the pitching mechanics I can promise you at "user pitch control 40" I could throw 100% strikes and always hit my spots. I played 4 games with this at 30 and threw no less than 88% strikes. I moved the ball around...changed speeds...used the scouting reports to identify hitter weaknesses. That became NO fun... I'm glad it works for you, and as stated, guys are more than happy to try that. But as someone who has played this title for a few years now the muscle-memory aspect of pitching takes over.

I think the problem that some have is they don't recognize how to spot the pitch based upon where the circles meet. The ball will do things based upon 1) where you spot the ball, 2) how much power you give the pitch (inside or outside the two converging circles), and 3) knowing how the pitch will move. At 25 I find this to be awesome because I really have to THINK like a pitcher. If I were to put that slider value at 40 the game would lose that aspect.

Please know I'm not talking down to you or calling you less of a player...that is NOT my intention. These slider values come with guys giving information based upon now a couple hundred combined games (or more). So if they're not for you, that's great and I hope you enjoy the set you developed. You've given another set here for guys to try and it's possible some will. Thanks!

Hey man. that's cool, this is just a game. I was always using my sliders based on yours.. I just wanted to try a little things different. I was not seeing many pitcher/batter battles. So i tried increasing the contact and to compesate i increased the pitcher slider too.

Other thing.. I think you don't use the catcher sugestion. I did. This also makes some difference.

I also played with control at 25/30... and was not seeing many battle, many foul balls.

On the other hand... The pitch success at 60 and user contact at 35.. In my opinion a lot of balls you could foul, ended in Strikes. At 60, the thrown pitches have less quality, so it's easier to have a hit, instead of a ground or a fly... But i will try the control back to 30.. to see if i get better...

Thanks Man... By the way... I'm brazilian.. I'm familiar with baseball since last year....

I am not sure about batting sliders changing for user, but I see the pitch success being lowered a bit, good, as I would like to see cpu pitcher try to get me to swing out of zone more. I agree with user pitch success, i like the challenge, have to think about each pitch, it should be challenging.

I don't use catcher suggestion with where to place the pitch, but I DO use the pitch type that I'm given and never variate from that.

With 25 user pitch control, I've had some GREAT battles. A couple games ago I had a 11 pitch at bat (with me as pitcher) before actually losing that battle.

I pitch pretty much the same way. Occasionally I will throw something different. But location is all about where I want to throw it.

I have considered forcing my self to throw a pitch outside of the zone when the catcher calls for it, though. Maybe not the same spot that the catcher called for, but still a ball. I think this might increase the number of walks I throw as I master the pitching more and more.

I think it will keep me more honest, as throwing outside of the zone is a key part of pitching strategy. I've been surprised at just how many strikes I get from batters fishing.

Buy yeah, pitching has become a lot of fun. I ended up starting a My Player career as a SP. It's jus\t a really well done and fun part of the game.

Using the latest setup (user batting contact: 35 / user batting power: 50 / cpu pitch success: 60) I just played an AMAZING game. Today's Baltimore (me) at Oakland (cpu). I won 5-4 in 11 innings.

I batted .268 as a team...Oakland .243. I had 11 hits (7 singles and 4 doubles) and Oakland had 10 hits (9 singles and 1 triple). Oakland struck me out 13 times and walked me twice. I struck out Oakland 9 times and walked SIX batters. I threw 182 total pitches for 56% strikes.

AWESOME game!! Britton struggled early, but bounced back to 6 innings, giving up 7 hits, 3 runs, 5 BB and 3 K. Gregg struck out the 11th for the save. My bullpen was SOLID. I moved pitches around and mixed things up. Got out of some big jams. Game was so realistic to play it was scary.

Hey man. I tried these for several games and really liked several aspects of the slider set.

First, I like HUM pitch control at 30 because it gives excellent pitch counts and allows for those mistake pitches to happen that can define games.

Second, I LOVE how well the HUM hitting sliders work. I drilled a HR with Kelly Johnson, who had like 55 PWR because the ball was up in the zone and the timing was perfect. I was shocked as hell but very happy with that. Timing and the location of the pitch are now the most important things and it really shows.

My major concern is with CPU hits. On this setting it seems like it's impossible to keep the CPU under 10 hits per game. I have yet to do so and I've played 5-7 games with different pitcher-lineup matchups. Is there some secret to this, or is generally higher CPU hitting average just part of the way the set plays?

I would suggest you lowering CPU batting POWER down to 75. But with that said, you have to move the ball ALL OVER the zone, know what the pitches do, change speeds, and most importantly, DO NOT BE AFRAID TO THROW BALLS. Just like in real baseball, if you pitch to certain guys they will kill you. sometimes a walk is the best thing you can do. Make sure you also know when to visit the mound to slow things down.
