You need to increase the USER pitch control slider.

Also, I'd consider moving the pitch analyzer option to every pitch. Just seeing it when you make a bad gesture is not enough. As you play, you will lean what you are doing that it throwing your accuracy off.

MK has it set at 25, which is probably to low for most folks. but this is really a personal setting. The best way I can recommend finding the right setting for you is to go into the Drills mode and play the control and velocity drill. At the conclusion, bring up the difficulty sliders, move it up or down, and then go back and play the drill again.

You will find a good balance for what you want. The drill is pretty tough. After finding a setting, try it out with different pitchers. I think you will get a good feel for it.

Second, and this probably should have been first, determine if you have pitch set to breakpoint or pinpoint under controller options. Pinpoint mean the ball will go to where the ball is. Breakpoint means the ball will land at the tip of the arrows. I don't think either is a big advantage, but if you assume the wrong one, it's going to affect control on all pitches that move.

Thanks for the advice. I'm gonna mess around with that later today.

I can't get the pitch analyzer to come up. I have it set to always, but it never appears since the patch.

I like the pitch control at 25 or 30 at the highest. Otherwise I never walk anyone and it's too easy to paint the corners.

I have a slight caveat to what Hal Fowler said..

When practicing, use one of your mid range rated control guys, and get your slider to where you can hit the spot about fifty percent of the time. If you can hit your spots on an average basis with an average pitcher, that will give you the most realism IMO. That way, your less than average pitchers will hit their spots less often, and your better than average pitchers will hit their spots more often.

Yeah, pitching is very much a feel thing. But personally I've found these numbers to be perfect.

Also, for any of you using my rosters, I've uploaded a new set at 2K Share today (Friday, June 3rd). Some ratings updates, but not a ton of time put into that yet. However, EVERY player that has made it to the Major Leagues is on this file. All teams 100% accurate as of 4:30 pm today, including the call-up of Tommy Hottovy to the Red Sox (left-handed relief pitcher).

I have also included an offline file for non-xbox live users in page 1 - post 1 of that thread.

I came to the conclusion that I just suck with total control pitching. I kept these sliders with classic pitching and I'm able to hit spots a lot more consistently. I think I'm going to go this route from here on out. One thing I like about this set is how rewarding it is to hit home runs. I've only hit 2 in 5 games (both in the same game) so far.

I have another question for you guys. Are you using the left stick to influence your hits at all? Right now I just swing and I seem to get a pretty good hit variety.

The only time I use the left stick is when I have a runner on first and a low and away pitch comes in to a right handed hitter. If I make contact, nine times out of ten its going to go through that giant hole between first and second.

Played another AWESOME game last night. Today's Athletics (cpu) at Boston (me) matchup. I won-4-3 in 10 innings.

I trailed 1-0 on an RBI triple by the A's (Crisp had 3 totals steals against me in this game). I tied it with an RBI triple off the Green Monster by JD Drew.

In the 7th I got a homer off the RF foul pole by Gonzalez. But Jenks came in and blew the lead...tied at 2.

I scored in the bottom of the 8th - had the bases loaded with 1 out but could only get one run. Papelbon comes in and gets the first two outs easily then blows the save. Another RBI triple (I gave up 3 triples in this game). Struck out the batter with the winning run on 3rd. Game now tied at 3.

Once again I got the bases loaded. Single, stolen base (Ellsbury). CPU intentionally walks the next batter. Single, but not deep enough to score a run. I believe it was Lowrie who laced a single up the middle - I win 4-3.

                    Oakland: 3 runs - 9 hits - 1 error
                    Boston: 4 runs - 10 hits - 0 error

                    Fun stuff!

You start a franchise yet mkharsh? I decided to to take other franchise as a test with sliders, and since we got a final set, roll with a new one. I downloaded latest roster set of yours, HUGE THANKS!!!! and started a franchise with my Braves ofcourse. I decided to sim up to current date and start from there no matter record or injuries. Lowe got injured early on, for 66 days, and a few other minor injuries. My record after simming till begining of Mets series, 39-19, wow, thats surprised me. First game against mets was Jurregins on mound with a 8 inning classic only allowing 1 run. I won 2-1. Cannot wait to keep it going.

                      My current rotation:

                      Hudson
                      Jurrigens
                      Hanson
                      Beachy
                      Teahran

                      My current lineup:

                      Heyward
                      Prado
                      Jones
                      McCann
                      Uggla
                      Gonzalez
                      Freeman
                      Schafer

Will not look at any trades until trade deadline, usually look at trading older vets away for some prospects, but if I keep rolling like this, might not touch a thing.

If I was with you in person, I would be definitely buying the brew for you, but the best I can do right now is this......

THANKS THANKS THANKS FOR MAKING THIS GAME KICK-***, WITH ALL YOUR TESTING AND ALLOWING US TO GIVE HONEST FEEDBACK AND JUST MAKING IT EVEN BETTER.

I too decided to go with classic pitching. Your sliders work great, you should be proud of the job you've done.

Thanks for making this game worth playing.

mk, I'm sure this has been asked before, but would it matter if I use the right stick to hit with these sliders? I really don't know what the difference would be result wise.

I've never tried them that way, but honestly, it appears that there is little-to-no difference between using classic vs. swing stick this year. give them a shot and see... if you compare blazzen's (who uses swing stick) i think they're pretty much similar in most regards.

i just finished playing the Mets and Brewers game from tomorrow..

Mets 6/11/0 (2 doubles, 2 home runs, 8 strike outs (i was rusty lol) 1 walk)
                              Brewers 7/16/1 (3 doubles, 2 triples, 1 strike out, 0 walks)

i scored 2 in the 1st and 2 in the 2nd.. it stayed 4 zip until the bottom of the 7th when the Brew Crew put 2 on the board. i then homered with Reyes to make it 5-2 in top of 8th. bottom half of that inning the Brewers added 2 more on my bullpen and made it 5-4. top of the 9th i homered with bay to make it a 6-4 Mets lead. brought in K-Rod and true to life lol he crapped his pants. he gave up 3 runs and the Brew Crew won 7-6.. last run was scored on a sac fly.. close play at the plate, but obviously not in time.

not a bad game at all, i enjoyed it even though i lost, boo!! im gonna run a few more and see how it goes.

oh, and i used pitch meter speed at default all star level 60, bc of the league i play in. i dont want to screw myself up with that lol. everything else was the same, well obviously with the exception of me using the right stick to hit.

Just played the most insanely fun game yet...

Tonight's Minnesota (cpu) at Cleveland (me) game. I won 1-0 in 15 innings.

Matt LaPorta hit a game winning RBI single scoring Travis Buck from 2B (whom I brought in as a pinch-runner for Shelley Duncan).

Both starting pitchers (Baker, minny and Tomlin, clev) were outstanding. Tony Sipp pitched 3 innings in relief to get the win. I had 13 hits, and Minny had 11.

In the top of the 15th Minny had runners on 1st and 3rd with only 1 out. I got a fly ball out to shallow RF and then got a ground out on a nice play deep in the hole at 2B. Fun stuff!
