Ive found that Classic Hitting just reults in too many weak grounders, try total control, hit with power until 2 strikes then contact it, even with low power guys the power swing results in hard liners, doubles/tripes and occasional HR's

Just tried these out for a few innings in a MLB today game -

I liked them. I've been meaning to use classic hitting or at least try it out because with the stick I find myself either bombing homeruns or just hitting soft lineouts. I dont know, its not terrible but I've been meaning to change.

The only thing I didnt like were the pitcher accuracy and pitch speed sliders. Pitcher accuracy needs to be higher, imo. I upped it +10 to 35 and I like it there. Anything lower and your pitcher is a little too inaccurate, imo.

Also, pitch speed at 80 seems kind of fast, and for some reason it feels like the balls fly off the bat faster because of this, making the game look unrealistic. Id probably lower pitch speed to 70.

Overall great though. I liked the variations in hits (especially from the CPU) and I actually had some great at bats.

Glad you like them. Just as you've noted, they are a base set. Tweak to fit your needs and enjoyment. I haven't played much as I'm working on a 1995 roster file. But I did get one game in the other night and lost 5-2. I had my opportunities, just couldn't get the big hit.

I've played 4 games in a new franchise (I always like testing sliders in a franchise, as it keeps the stats for you :P). I'm 1-3, but I've had 3 extra inning games. I'm also going to bump up pitcher control - I've got 25 walks in 4 games so far. That's a bit high for me. I'm not as good with some of the pitch gestures (particularly the 2-seam), so I'm a little more wild to start with. I may also bring pitch speed down just a bit. I've got 10 walks, which is okay, but I also have 52 k's, which is too high.

Overall, I like these a lot. I switched to classic last year. You will get a lot of ground balls, but that's a good thing. I still make plenty of contact. I have 6 hr's and 7 2b's so far in 4 games. And my HR's aren't with big guys - Uggla has two, but the others belong to Freeman (2), McLouth, and Conrad.

I like total control hitting but many use classic, I also use classic pitching which I find to be much better

Hey mk, with the patch coming out tomorrow, are you going to work on tuning these sliders if they get jacked? I know you've been busy with your throwback rosters so I was just wondering..

Well, first off: there are NO patch notes to date. So none of us know what this patch will do.

Secondly, if the patch is only fixing certain issues that deal with freezing, injuries, franchise progression / stamina - NONE of those issues are "slider related." But again, we just don't know.

But thirdly: yes, if there are indeed changes to the game I'll work on some things. But at the moment I am VERY pleased with the realism of these sliders and the challenge they provide. Stay tuned, I suppose...

I also very much like how they are playing as of now. Hopefully the patch doesn't mess them up too badly. Dunno, we'll see tomorrow.

On an unrelated note- Just wondering what you have your injury slider at? Hopefully the patch will fix it and my question will be moot, but I'm getting a rediculous amount of injuries and its only on 10. Seems like two or three days before I'm supposed to get someone off the DL, two more go on it... Ahhh frustration... I've also tried it at one for a few games to no avail; same results.

                        1 change (post-patch) thus far:

                        - lowered CPU Baserunning Aggression from 100 to 90.

The patch notes state they have really tweaked this, and now it's a bit overdone as guys are all over the bases. If you're not sure leave it at 100, but my guess is you'll lower it.

Just so ya know MK, I have now played 2 games in my franchise after the patch and other than tuning the aggression down from 100 to 90 which is def smart I dont see anything else that needs to be changed at all, CPU still gets a decent amount of hits but also K's so contact is good and I gave up 0 HR's so power at 75 seems to still be ok, If I go to 80 its too many HR's

                            Love your sliders and rosters!!!

Post patch, lowered aggression as posted.....

Anyone else seeing alot of cpu hits, I have played a few spring training games in franchise and computer gets 10+ hits a game, pre patch not a problem for me all the time with these sliders.

I just toned down two things:

cpu run aggression at 75 (hsd cpu tag from 1st base on a center fly out)
cpu power at 75 ( maybe help with cpu hit totals always being over 10)

Yep, this is where it is at man, wow, game is awesome now, cannot stop playing, even though I have started slow with my bravos, freaking 4-8 to start season. Fielding is so smooth on both sides now, huge difference.

I only picked up 1 win out of each of the 1st 4 series against nationals, brewers, phillies, and marlins, been tough. I have been shutout 7 times in 12 games, cannot get runs across for some reason, get hits but no runs??? Like that I have been able to hit homers with different players: Freeman, Heyward, Uggla, and Mcann. Hopefully can get out of slump.
