Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

Back on target following that commercial break...

Just played a crazy game... tomorrow's Mets (cpu) at Cubs (me) matchup.

      I won 11-2.

      Mets: 2 runs - 4 hits - 2 errors
      Cubs: 11 runs - 14 hits - 1 error

      Ramirez - 3-4, 2 rbi, 1 hr
      Pena - 2-5, 6 rbi, 2 3-run hr's
Dempster: 9 ip, 4 hits, 2 runs, 5 k's (had a 1 hit shutout with 1 out left before giving up 3 hits and 2 runs)

      Niese: 2 1/3 ip, 5 hits, 7 runs, 3 bb, 4 k's
      Misch: 2 2/3 ip, 7 hits, 3 runs, 2 k's
      beato: 3 ip, 2 hits, 1 r (unearned), 6 k's (mixed his pitches well)
      Beltran - 1-4, 2 rbi

This was with the latest sliders. Still saw 2 throwing errors by the mets - 1 by the catcher throwing out a runner at first (following a pitch in the dirt on a 3rd strike) and another by the 2B (that's concerning since it was an easy play).

Here's my concern: I wish the game had a slider for user pitch control somewhere between 25 and 30. I felt like I was in total control with Dempster. Got a ton of ground ball outs.

I'm thinking about raising the cpu gather errors back up to where it was, but lowering their throwing errors by 5. Any thoughts... Thanks!

        updated these two sliders:

AI Gather Error Frequency: 95 (raised from 90)
AI Throwing Error Frequency: 50 (lowered from 55)

I'm still seeing dumb throwing errors, but I'm not seeing any bobbled balls by the cpu in any games lately.

          Help!
I am having trouble getting runners out with my catchers. Should I try to lower the Ai base runner speed to 30? or should I make the human catcher arm strength to 65.
Another problem I am having is stealing! After the patch I can't seem to steal any bases with guys over 85+

          Thanks!

I'm thinking AI pitch success may need to go back up. Outside of a game against Randy Wolf (I couldn't hit that slow curve), I'm KILLING the cpu. Through 5 games, I have 41 runs, 15 hr, and a .326/.356/.657 line as a team. Brian McCann, Dan Uggla, and Nate McLouth all have 3hr, and Heyward has 4 (with 10 rbi, and a .273 avg). That's the big one that would control all this, yes?

You may want to drop user contact down DJ or bump up cpu pitch success. The fact that both your average and HR totals are high leads me to believe you should lower contact first (by 5-10) and probably lower your power as well. How are your strikeouts? They will go up as you drop contact.

I think the sliders before were great, the error issue the only thing I think needed adjustment. CPU does not get many walks, but that is not sliders fault, that is me being over aggressive at the plate and not patient enough. As far as base stealing, at 35 I get thrown out alot even with my fastest guy, than at 40 I seem to steal almost all the time. The problem is the cpu pitcher does not throw to first enough to keep my lead down, I can always get a 3 step lead it seems, is there a slider for this?also cpu seems to almost always steal the base.

What about injury slider, anyone got something good after patch, I am at 25 right now, but not seeing any injuries, not even minor so far in franchise?

I am going to try these settings to see if it helps base stealing:

pickoff success to 60 from 55.
AI catcher arm strength to 45 from 50
AI catcher arm acc to 45 from 40

We need to make sure any adjustments we make moving forward are based on playing several games first to get a real feel on how it is playing, and that we only move slider by 5 at a time, as we are so close to final set.

I'm going to leave the sliders on page 1-post 1 alone. Any tweaking from here on out can be done individually. I agree with DonkeyJote - personally, I'm going to drop my contact slider down to 30, possibly 25.

The last game I played I told myself to not play in a hurry and play the game as sim-like on my end as possible. I was REALLY patient and saw the ball well and crushed it. I know those games happen in real life, but I think I'm at a point where I can get 10-15 hits per game and I'd like that lowered a tad.

So, make your adjustments and we can all still help people here with issues that come up. Thanks!

More tweaking... Latest changes are Wednesday, 5-25 at 12:40 pm. When playing make sure you have the latest set plugged in to be sure we're all working from the same base.

A number of changes. After what I'm reading here and seeing myself I've tried to make some tweaks to fit every person who comes here.

                        All changes are in bold/red...

The newest tweak is to cpu pitching. I've raised their AI Pitch Success to 65 (up from 60). I've lowered the CPU AI Strike Zone Tendency to 45 (from 50). Trying to help offset those of us who are seeing too much user batting power.

I've lowered user pitch success to 25. For me, at 30 I dominated the CPU and had back-to-back games where I only gave up 4 hits each game. If that's not for you, then stay at 30 or 35.

I think CPU batting contact will remain at 50 with cpu batting power at 75. I wish there was something between 75 and 80 as I think the cpu power should be in the middle of these two variables. I'm going with 75 unless I see an outage by the CPU.

Lastly, I'm going with user batting contact at 30. I tried a game at 25, but the problem is that I don't see hardly any foul balls. At 35 I felt I was hitting the ball too much.

I'm thinking over an idea: putting user batting contact at 35 but lowering user power to 50. But not sure on this yet...

Hope these explanations are helpful to you guys... thanks again for your feedback on these and hope it makes the game enjoyable!

I have made it end of April with my Braves playing every other game, so wanted to list some stats and results:

                          I am 17-12 overall(1st in NL east)
                          Phillies .5 game back
                          Nationals 2 games back
                          Mets 4.5 games back
                          Marlins 5 games back

Here are results of my played games:

                          4/2 - loss 8-7 to nationals

I got absolutely rocked by Toronto. I was Cleveland. They hit 3 HRs, 1 of which was a grand slam by Corey Patterson. Carmona didn't make it past the 2nd inning.

Might have to up user pitch control. Part of my struggle might have been itches going everywhere and not where I spotted them. I'll test some more, I might have been a fluke. CpU power that game makes me nervous.

I had to adjust CPU baserunning to 65, as at 75 saw Nate Mclouth tag from 2nd and try to score on a flyball to Norse in my second game... still getting realistic games so far.

That setting is actually at 60 and has been for a couple days. At 65 you will still see guys foolishly tag up from 2B on a fly ball to right and get tagged out every time.

Make sure you guys check page 1-post 1 for all latest sliders.
