Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching

    Two changes in the wee hours of the morning...(Monday, May 23 - 2:35 a.m. - page 1 / post 1 updated).

After 3 more test games I saw some things that needed corrected:

    - Removed the user 15 pitch control. Just too unrealistic. With the cpu batting sliders (contact and power) at 50 and 80 they simply get too many hits with pitch control that low. So this will now stay at 25, which seems to play well.

    - Lowered cpu running aggression from 75 down to 70. Actually, this might play better at 65, but I'll concede 70. I was seeing too many dumb mistakes by cpu runners. Post-patch they now want to go from 1st to 3rd ALL the time. I wish 2K had left this alone as I wasn't seeing anything wrong. Now they've overdone it.

But these two updates seem to play well. I'd like feedback on the cpu running aggression - if anyone is willing to run some test games at both 70 and then 65 it would be appreciated. Thanks!

I played 6 games at 65 have not seen any crazy base running like going too second on a single , i restarted my season put the sliders in on all-star and everything else from the start . Im able to hit HR now must of been something in the sliders .

          I change posted on page 1 - post 1.

Lowered cpu baserunning aggression down to 65.

At 70 they were still taking off and running on shallow fly balls. At 65 I NO LONGER saw this, so it appears that 65 is the magic number for this slider set. They still run the bases intelligently and are aggressive in the proper situations, but run smarter now.

Roger, this is it. I love how great pitchers seem great, and you really have to think and work your way to runs, absolutely awesome. I had classic, Lowe vs Hamels, I took a early lead off a Gonzalez HR, than they return the favor with a 2 run shot around 3rd. 2-1 phillies. I pushed a run across in 5th to tie game, in 5th inning, 2-2. Going into 7th inning Howard knocked a 3 run shot, kept lowe into long as he was 90+ pitches. 5-2, phillies. Bottom of 8th, my free agent pick up Molina gets a pinch hit single to start inning, and then a few hits & runs later, with two outs and score 5-4, Chipper knocks in the tie run, too make it 5-5 going into 9th. They do nothing, and in bottom of 9th I got a runner on 2nd thinking I could get him in, but I could not. Top of 10th, Polanco knocks a single shot to take a 6-5 win. Never liked losing so much, haha

I just played an awesome game that I lost. Tonight's Chicago White Sox (me) at Rangers (cpu). Final: Texas 6-5.

I trailed 2-0. Danks was sharp, but gave up a walk a couple bloop shots. I got 2 on (error by Kinsler) and then Quenton hit a 3 run bomb to opposite field and I led 3-2. Rangers tied it up an then took the lead on a solo shot by Kinsler, 4-3. In the 7th I got a 2-run homer by Alexei Ramirez to lead 5-4. Sale and Santos struck out the side.

So, I bring in Thornton to close it out. Gets the first two outs in the blink of an eye... then all hell breaks loose. Andrus hits a single to right and I lose 6-5. But it was a great, great game and I really love this game.

I've thought about calling this out as well, but the early talk of online play being laggy and sub-par had me scared.

You can't use classic / one button hitting in online leagues. Don't prefer that...

I had a complete game shutout with jurregans vs mets, won 5-0. So you do get different types of games with these sliders. What's his name from Mets is a pain in arse, with knuckleball, Happ I believe? Finally figured it out around 7th inning, knocked him out of game with 4 runs, had 1 run early in game. I am on 5 game winning streak, with simming every other game, swept mets in 3. I am 9-8 currently, got a 3 team, 10 game, road trip, dodgers, giants, and padres next.

                        R.A. Dickey, I believe.

Yeah, I hate those offspeed guys. I have a hard time hitting sliders more than anything.

My worst is the 12-6 Curve and 12-6 Change. They're so slow so I'm always early and they always look like they're going to be in the zone but then they drop like a foot or two out.

Always like trying your sliders harsh, but I have mixed feelings with these. Had a game, Mariners v. Twins in MLB today (I was the Mariners) and pitched a 3 hitter shutout with Vargas. Won 9-0 and had about 10-11 hits. Also, two errors both sides. 11 K's for Vargas. It's only one game but the CPU hitting seems dumbed down while user hitting is easy. I am, by the way, using classic hitting.

I think throwing power for fielders and running speed is too much. Ichiro ran like usain bolt and could throw a strike to 3rd from deep right field. Seemed a little too powerful.

It's only one game so i'll play some more before making any severe judgements.

I knew it was some guy with initials as first name, thats the bas**d, and he throws a pretty fast knuckleball. Oh well still won game.

Speaking of different games, took my 5 game win steak to dodgers, and they put me back to earth, Lily and company, the best record currently in NL, beat me 9-1, ouch.

Play in franchise and multiple games before judging my friend. I have shutout cpu 5-0, and got beaten 9-1, and everything in between, great mix of games.
