Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Played a couple of MLB Today games with this set and things were OK. I'm trying to get a handle on a few things; CPU Pitch Speed at 75 feels too fast, so I'll have to try that at a lower setting. The other thing was HUM Pitch Control felt too low; it seemed very rare that balls wound up where I was intending them to go. I'm not expecting perfection on every pitch and welcome misses out of the zone, but I don't like when I'm aiming for the outside corner, hit my gesture spot-on and the ball winds up on the other side of the plate.
I'm also struggling with catching balls in the outfield. It's hard for me to get my players to "stick" in one spot and I've had several fly balls bounce off my players' heads or just go over their heads completely. It's hard to explain but there's a lack of smoothness in the players' gait as they approach the ball; it feels like they are running a full sprint and trying to get them to slow down is really tough. I hate that routine flys have cost me several runs b/c I can't interrupt the animation.
I will say that the hitting variety with Classic is nice; with the R-stick it felt like everything was either down the lines or right up the middle. I've been able to spray the ball to the gaps and hit some bloopers, which is nice to see.
I'll have to re-start my testing when I get back from vacation next week. These are a good base, though. Good job, Mike.Currently Playing:

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
They take some time getting used to, mostly pitching. You have to learn how a ball will move based upon the total movement of the right thumb stick. And it also depends whether you stay inside or outside of the circle. The problem with this game is that pitching can become way too easy. But I think a major difference between us is that I've never played The Show. So I've got a lot of years of muscle-memory with this game because, outside of the old xbox MVP 05, this is the only baseball I've played.
I played today's colorado (cpu) at cleveland (me) game. I lost 5-4 in 10 innings. I had 2 two-run homers. I had 6 hits through 2 innings. I only got 2 more hits the rest of the way. But I had runners at 2nd and 3rd in the bottom of the 10th and struck out and grounded out. Colorado got 12 hits against me...STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

I'm playing this on the PS3, so not sure if that makes a difference in terms of controller sensitivity. When I had the 360 version, it did seem easier to locate pitches, but I could've been playing with a higher control slider, so who knows?
If I have more issues, I'll send you a PM to discuss since you're pretty much locked in with the set.Currently Playing:

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Just played my first MLB today game with these. Game was the most enjoyable 2k11 game I have played yet. I can't spot my pitches well but i think that's on me.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I bumped up the user baserunning 5 points and gave the human/cpu batting contact/power a smaller margin and it seems to be pretty good. I beat the Royals as the Dodgers 7-3. Hit a 2-run homer in the 7th I believe, to make it 5-3.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
If I set control to be 100, I can hit my spot without any problem. But as I move it to something closer to we use here, like 25 or 30, I might get completely skunked in the drill, missing my spot every time. But at 40 or 45, I will be substantially better.
But the drill really is a nice way to gauge how good you really are. I also find it helpful to turn the pitch analyzer to every pitch while learning. You will see just where you are missing and how to improve. Just getting the analyzer on bad gestures doesn't help much. You want to know why you are missing by inches, even if it is 5-10 inches.
But the Drill is a great way to see how effort and accurate gestures affect location.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I suggest this in an earlier thread, but you can use the Drills mode and nail down just how accurate you want your pitcher to be.

It's lack of practice. I tend to play the games in cycles. So I'll play the show for a period of time, and then I'll play 2k11 for a period of time. My timing and such is just off in 2k. It will come after some time. Results are stilll pretty good with these sliders. Made the game infinitely more enjoyable.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I just had the most pathetic game I have played all season, now first all ive played 71 games so far in my franchise and ive seen it all, from getting 20 hits in 1 game to only having 2 hits, ive given up 20 hits in a game and ive also thrown a 2 hitter, ive gone 8 games without hitting a HR and ive also hit 8hr's in 1 game, so basically I have seen many many games and have had fun in almost every 1 of the, bit this is pathetic.
Johan Santana (me) vs Dan Haren (cpu)
Johan goes 8ip 1run 8 hits
Haren 9ip 0runs 1hit
Now at first it looks like 1 hell of a pitching duel that was fun.........NOT!!!
Haren gave up the 1 single in the 9th inning first of all, 2nd of all he had 14k's, I usually K maybe 5-7 times, NOT 14
Every single Power swing I did resulted in a foul ball, I maybe put 2 in play (this has never happened, it seemed so stupid). So of course now I have 2 strikes and ide contact swing and miss. I could see power swings being pop outs or line outs, but no, everyone was foul, some foul outs.
This just seemed like such a waste of time, it was horrible, Wright, Beltran, Ike, Bay everytime it would be foul ball, foul ball, swing and a miss.............Game almost seemed programmed to do this, 1st time ive ever witnessed this.Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Very good point lol, im just so confused what happened that game, it really just seemed so programmed that it all had to happen that way, foul every pitch off till u K, like seriously what the hell is that lol...........but yes like u said, shake it off, ill be back to my games tomorrow, trying to finish a full 162 game season, I had done it from 2K1 thru 2K8, but 2K9 I hated, same with 2K10, I love this one thoComment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
PMO... having played a zillion games it seems to me that, yes, I believe there is some pre-programmed stuff. I know some will disagree with this, but I've seen guys that I simply cannot get out no matter what I throw them. And I've seen my guys get hits where I felt they shouldn't have (but go the proverbial 3-4 in the game). I think we just have to deal with stuff.
The latest trend that I'm now in: early runs scored in the 1st and 2nd innings, but then nothing. Strange, but I had the opposite thing going before. I don't know...
Once I do my re-ratings (which I will work on a lot on Friday and Saturday) I'm going to start a fantasy draft dynasty. This tends to even out the teams and I like the idea of having to learn EVERY team from scratch.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
I've got a question about power numbers using this set. I can get doubles with these sliders, but I can't hit homeruns unless I get a ball that's right in the middle of plate with no movement. If the ball has late movement or is toward the edge of the zone, I get nothing but weak contact.
