went to classic, and never going back to swing stick. Hitting is much more realistic and makes it feel like a real ball game again. don't why it took me so long.

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Hey Harsh. playing with my Indians. Played a crazy game against the Angels facing Dan Heron. It was a crazy game all in all. I ended up winning by a score of 9-8. I got to Herron early. He wasn't as dominate as I thought. I think I ended up getting 5 runs by the 6th inning and they yanked him. I had Carrasco on the mound and he struggled as well. Giving up 5 runs just like his counterpart Herron. Each of us ended up with like 16 hits which I thought was a lot. I Found myself down 8-7 entering the top of the 8th. I had given up 4 runs in the bottom of the 7th giving up the lead. With nobody out, Choo singled, and Santana smashed the first pitch over the CF wall for a 2-run jack and I took th lead 9-8! Rafeal Perez shut them down in the 8th and in the 9th Chris Perez struck out the side on 9 straight pitches! Incredible!
As far as the amount of hits there were (over 30 + for both teams), should I consider that as a fluke game and play some more? I do use the batter eye frequency so maybe if I turn that off I won't have as many hits? I'm having a blast with this game. I've ignored the flaws with the Franchise and I am like 10-3 in my 54 game season.
Thanks for the advice!Comment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Give it 10 games, jon... You'll see some things in franchise mode that you won't exhibition because of how the player tendencies come into play. If you are really seeing a lot of jacked up offense, i would shut the batter's eye off (I don't use it so I'm not much help there)...
I'm creating the 1995 season rosters. I'll see if the game will allow me enough memory to pull this off...
I have Cleveland and Kansas City done. Not all of the re-ratings yet, but each team has 30 players (15 position players and 15 pitchers) - these will be a BLAST to play with...
I was playing as Cleveland at home vs. KC (cpu). Hershiser (me) vs. Gubicza. I was losing 4-0 until I struck for 3 runs in the 6th. I then gave up 2 runs (went a tad too long with the "Bulldog") and was down 6-3 in the 9th. It was then that the old Indians magic struck up. Lofton led off with a base hit. Followed by a Vizquel single. Baerga doubled off the wall scoring 2. I struck out with Albert Bell (got a little too giddy). Eddie Murray walked. Thome blooped a single. Bases loaded and 1 out...
Paul Sorrento then jacked a double off the wall...game over. I won 7-6. I had 11 hits, the Royals (cpu) had 10. Paul Assenmacher got the win in relief...
I have a lot of player ratings adjustments to make and a TON of work to do, but if you're into classic rosters they will play well with these sliders. See my other thread for occasional updates.STEELERS INDIANS CELTICS

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Just played my first game with these sliders, modified ever so slightly (but nothing as far as hitting/pitching concerned.
This was the best game of 2k11 I've had, and makes putting this title down all the harder while I wait for the patch. I want to love this game sooooo much, but until the patch, it's a play and put down game for me.
But, just to give you some stats:
Franchise game Cubs (me) vs. Diamondbacks
Wells vs Galarraga
Ending box score was ARI: 0 runs 2 hits 1 error Chi: 4 runs 12 hits 0 error
I was a little worried early, as I punched up 8 hits in the first 4 innings, and was expecting another 15-20 hit game, but, I only managed another 4 hits in the game.
And placebo, or whatnot, that adjusting from All-star, I'll be damned if I didn't have some soft dribblers, one that made it through! and another one that was hit so softly, it cost ARI a double play!!!
Wells went 9 with a single walk and 11 k's, so I might need to tweak my pitching sliders, but, it's only one game.
I ended up with 7 k's against me total, with...get this..... TWO WALKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (dances!!!!) Read my posts in the MLB 11 The Show forums, I NEVER WALK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
and Pena got hit by a pitch 2 times... I think the first one was intentional...right after a HR. Second one was 1-2 pitch, so...why hit a guy that's down in the count.
This is astounding : Galarraga had 73 pitches in his 5 innings of work, 48 for strikes..... I can't believe I worked counts like that!!!!! God damnit 2k, please get that patch out soon, and have it fix almost everything. I can live with this game not looking as shiny as The Show, just make it work right.
Anyways, only 1 game, but it was the first game of 2k11 other than the first few I played when I bought it that made me WANT to goto the next inning instead of turn it off.
My only other complaint is the stadium shadows, and it could be a setting on my 360 too that's doing it. But my god, I know Wrigley has shadows that effect things later in games, but it's a touch extreme. When the pitcher is nothing but a black outline, it's a tad much. Having watching many a Cubs game, and been to them, even in extreme shadows, you can still see the pitchers face and read his uniform...this is like a solar eclipse is going on.
I'll fiddle with my video settings to make sure it's not causing it though. You do what you want in your association, don't let others ruin the fun. Just because other people say it's cheap doesn't mean you have to let it affect your association, just have fun - Evan_OSComment

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
To answer the latest questions...
1) Why classic batting? Because I find it to be the most realistic way to play. It's all about timing. I've always hated having a contact swing vs. a power swing. Classic batting is about bat on ball physics and eyeing up the pitch and making perfect contact based upon split second decisions. I do not use the left directional stick. I LOVE this element of the game...and this year 2K nailed it.
2) Why pitch speed at 80? After reading MANY threads, it seemed to be the number that many slider creators arrived at. It's not so fast that all pitches look alike and get on you too quickly. But it does allow for a second or so to acknowledge the type of pitch, location and speed of it. Nothing magical about that number but it's a solid, agreeable one.
3) Do I strike out a lot? Yes and no... I do when I get in a rush or get frustrated and stop playing baseball with my head. I take a LOT of pitches...I work the count and try to get the pitch I want. I struggle with curveballs but can tee up a fastball well. Like in real life, sometimes it takes me a couple innings to figure a pitcher out. Patience is key with these sliders...
4) Hit homeruns with lesser power batters? No, I don't. BUT, I only play exhibition games, not franchise. Franchise mode is still broken and I'm awaiting the patch to fix some things. This is a known GAME flaw, not a slider flaw. The players have been rated for sim-engine purposes, so we are once again left the human/user element being flawed. Even at 50 power I hit homers... Actually, I hit a bomb to deep right field (but slightly foul) with Brett Gardner of the Yankees the other night. I can't recall his power number, but I believe it's not high.
5) The 50 / 50 split success? By this I believe you (PMO) mean the new finding about putting cpu pitch success at 50 with human batting power at 50... Yes, homers are no problem for me. I've hit quite a few. I LOVE this new setting. Two discoveries that receive credit are "Redemption" finding the 50 cpu pitch success and for "The Bimmer" sharing the importance of inputting the slider values from ALL-STAR level.
If you guys are struggling to hit homers, here's my suggestion: keep cpu pitch success at 50 - do NOT move that value higher!!! But start raising your user batting power figure. I'd move it to 60 and see what you get - but give it TEN games. If you're not seeing anything, then raise it to 70...and then 75... I really don't see why you would ever have to go higher than 75 (80 tops). Again, it's all about timing...
So, there's other factors involved: pitch recognition... seeing the ball... maybe you guys need to look at different BATTING CAMERAS - the default one I use is kinda far back so maybe you need a ZOOMED camera. Or, one final suggestion: lower the cpu pitch speed. Take it down to 75...
These sliders are a "base" set. Tweak to fit your needs. I value your feedback and want to be certain that we're not seeing problems that become a pattern. But I'm not seeing anything wrong so the base is set. Hope this information is helpful...
Thanks!!!
4) Don't like - but, I understand that you either don't hit HR's with guys under ~70-75 power or you have too much offense. Simple as that, no in between.GamerTag: Blazzen85

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
1) I really like your reasoning/explanation here. I've also literally worn the rubber cover off the right analog stick from swinging on TWO DIFFERENT CONTROLLERS so far this year, and I've worn it off a control last year too.
4) Don't like - but, I understand that you either don't hit HR's with guys under ~70-75 power or you have too much offense. Simple as that, no in between.“No one is more hated than he who speaks the truth.”

Played another game in my tribe franchise. Got pouned by the rays by like 9-3. They got to masterson early. Gave up 3 runs in the 1st. I finally settled down with pitching. Fought my way back. Closest I got was within 2. Found myself down 6-3 in the 9th and gave up 3 runs.
I upped the user pitcher control to 40 and still gave up 15+ hits

Re: mkharsh33 MLB 2K11 Sliders: Classic Hitting / Total Control Pitching
Put CPU pitch success at 50 and HUM Pwr at 55, you will hit bombs, I hit 1 with Angel Pagan and Daniel Murphy the other day with basically MK's sliders and those 2 adjustmentsComment
