from everything i have read about this Inman kid sounds like a very good prospect. This looks like a great trade for the future of SD but i still dont know how this helps us NOW. Although Thatcher has been activated and reporting to the game tomorrow.

I'd probably find suitors for Josh Towers to be honest with you. Chacin is already rehabbing and will be back soon. At least he's more consistent then Towers who you never know what you're gonna get with. I'd also think about trading Glaus so that they can move Thigpen to 3rd so he gets more playing time rather than a platoon situation with Zaun.

Move Glaus? I don't know about that.

How many guys around the league can put up 30/100 regularly every season? It's hard to replace that production IMO, and you don't know how a developing kid like Thigpen would turn out converting him from catcher to third. And with A-Rod probably signing for $30+ mil a year, that will for sure drive the prices of all guys of similar calibre up... and when you think about it, at ~11mil a year now, Glaus seems like a bargain compared to most players out there.. seeing as how we would probably have to pay more than 11mil to replace Glaus's production.

I think Tex will be going to Atlanta or Boston. I think the Angels are going after Konerko. The Cubs will get Jermaine Dye.

Also the Red Sox signed Brady Clark.

Lofton to the Yanks or cards(again?)
Gange won't go to the Tigers. He can veto that trade, and he's stated he wants to sign a long term deal in Texas. My bet is he stays, and signs an extension in September for 4 or 5 more years.

Otsuka will not be eligible to return from the DL until after the deadline, so he's probably not going anywhere either.

With Byrd playing the way he is, it has really opened up the Rangers' ability to deal Lofton, and I would be pretty surprised if he's not somewhere else next week.

Wilkerson, maybe, but who wants a guy hitting .220 with as many strikeouts as he's got?

Benoit, Wilson, and Mahay are the biggest three names teams will be asking about from the bullpen. I see Mahay as the most likely to go. The Rangers are really high on Wilson, and Benoit has been one of the most solid guys in the bullpen this year.

Tex ends up in Atlanta with Mahay and Salty, a pitching prospect, and Elvis coming to Arlington. That's the most likely scenario, anyway, that I can see.

                  Re: Official Trade Deadline Thread

                  As per Dallasnews.com http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcont....aeab0031.html

Texiera to the Braves may become a blockbuster involving the Dodgers as well. Both are interested in the 1st baseman and would also like a reliever. The Braves prefer Mahay or Gagne, while the Dodgers Gagne or Benoit. The hold up however is that the Rangers would like to sign Gagne longterm.

"The foundation for a deal that would send Teixeira to Atlanta would be 22-year-old catcher-first baseman Jarrod Saltalamacchia, considered the Braves' top prospect. It would likely also include a young pitcher, potentially either 23-year-old right-hander Kyle Davies or 21-year-old left-hander Matt Harrison, and infielder Elvis Andrus. The Braves, however, are not likely to part with lefty Jo-Jo Reyes."

"The Dodgers also remain interested in a Teixeira-centric package, the source said. The Dodgers would likely have to part with first baseman James Loney, an outfielder such as Andre Ethier and a minor league pitcher to pull of such a deal. The Rangers love Highland Park lefty Clayton Kershaw, but it's not certain the Dodgers would include a prospect of his caliber as a third player. "

"Also, the Los Angeles Angels, according to a major league source, have upped an original offer of first baseman Casey Kotchman and a minor league outfielder (either Terry Evans or Nathan Haynes) for Teixeira alone."

Wilkerson is hitting lefties just fine, batting .262 in 61 at bats with 6 HRs and 16 SOs. That's value enough for some team I'm sure. You're correct on Gagne getting resigned. Benoit/Mahay might both be shipped if they're keeping Gagne, Otsuka, though Wilson was a guy they were grooming to close I understood. Byrd isn't a bad candidate to continue playing centerfield this season and maybe play there next. Sosa could probably be moved too since he's got 600.

Ofcourse early on they're gonna demand something like that hoping a dumb team will bite. Lofton is still too good a player that can help a team in a playoff push to not be moved. A top prospect is probably asking too much, but a midlevel prospect might make more sense. Honestly though I figure he gets packaged in another deal (Texeira maybe?). Especially with one of the middle relievers.

At this point I would think nil if they don't include some top prospects. Boston isn't going to give up the prospects and the Yanks don't have the prospects since they're protecting Hughes so I can't imagine to Sox take him. The Sox might add a bullpen guy or maybe another outfielder and trade Pena, but that's the extent of the moves I can imagine them making. They'll prolly shuttle Pinero off too.
