I had a MUCH longer post typed out, but I'll just leave it at this.

It just gets REALLY old after 17 years, when there isn't a single shred of evidence outside of an unreliable "anonymous" report.

Lumping him in with the Roids Guys is overdone at this point. His success all came after it became illegal.

Congrats to Big Papi; one of the best. Pissed that Clemens and Bonds didn’t get in though.

I didn't realize when I was a kid the Hof players got voted in by such a sanctimonious bitchy group of writers.

Don't really care about this sham of a hall anymore except for the players. Because it's such an honor for them and little bitches that can't use common sense somehow get a vote.

Anyways congrats to Papi. Maybe the best DH ever. Bonds and Clemens should be easy 1st ballot choices. But whatever. They are in my book.

People get worked up too much over plaques. When I visited Cooperstown years ago, there were displays/memorabilia from Bonds, McGwire, Rose, Shoeless Joe, plus many, many others. Nobody gets forgotten.

At some point, a known roider will get voted in, or someone previously voted in will have been found to be a roider, and the floodgates will open. Might be awhile, though. For those who hate sanctimonious writers, wait'll you get a load of the Veterans Committee!

Opens the door for Bonds then since he was a HOF player before he used. Either let them all in or none.

Yea thats what makes it even more ridiculous. Like I said it doesn't matter to me anymore. There's plaques in there right now that don't even belong.

It just sucks for the players. That these writers and media hypocrites hold that type of ownership over them. That's what bothers me. It's political and personal. And that's all it is.

Because common sense, eye test, sabermetrics, etc.. all point to Bonds and Clemens being no doubt hofers. We aren't clamoring for Sosa or McGwire.

I think the voters are hypocrites, and I would personally vote for most of the roiders, but I don't feel particularly sorry for them either. These guys did knowingly cheat (yes, steroids have been banned in baseball since 1991, not 2003), and nobody's going to take away their stats from the record books or their tens/hundreds of millions from their bank accounts. And nor should they.

I do have some sympathy for marginal pros and amateur athletes who juice - they lose everything if they get caught. Medals, records, money, athletic career gone. Public pariahs. No defenders on message boards. Bonds and Clemens were no-doubt Hall of Famers and multi-millionaires before ever glancing at a needle and they chose to juice anyway, due to what, ego? Should Bonds and Clemens be in the Hall of Fame and recognized as a couple of the greatest players ever? Yes. Should they be publicly scorned as cheating losers? Also yes.

Who thinks Todd Helton is better than Andruw Jones? Seriously?

                      I dont get this.

It does seem like more and more reasonable/objective people are beyond the polarization of Bonds and Clemens, and the steroid era in general, and see how bizarre it is that they aren't in. The HoF is just a club voted on by people. We really don't need them to tell us who was good and who wasn't. Clemens had 7 Cy Young's lol.

You're absolutely right. You won't get an argument from me there. I think they all deserve to be in as well.

To this day Barry Bonds is still the only member of the 400/400 club.

I was never against them getting in, not before, not now.

But again, you keep lumping Ortiz in with that group, that was where my initial issue came from.

David Ortiz gets into the HOF swinging a bat three times a game, but Barry Bonds can’t despite being one of the most fearsome all around players in the history of the game?

                                That’s a major problem.

Both were linked to steroids. But Papi gets a pass because he was more personable.

Didn’t realize this was the Hall of Likability.
