Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
if he isn't tainted, there is still the perception his corked bat certainly was
I don't really WANT to defend Sosa (see first half of this post),
but you don't get selected to 7 all-star games or as an MVP w/o being closer to somewhat good rather than
''not really all that good''
Look at Sosa's numbers pre steroids. Bonds and ARod would have gotten in w/o the juice Sosa no way.Comment

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
With right around 1/4 of the votes counted, the current inductees are David Ortiz, Barry Bonds, and Roger Clemens.
Ortiz- 82%
Bonds- 81%
Clemens- 80%
Scott Rolen is next at 72%Last edited by TripleCrown9; 12-30-2021, 10:55 PM.Boston Red Sox

Idk man, I think some writers were just making them sweat it out until the final year.
Because the voters are absolutely that petty.Boston Red Sox

Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
The Bonds and Clemens numbers don't mean anything. So far, they've only picked up 1 vote each compared to 2021 voting. Most "traditional" BBWAA voters either don't share their votes until after the results are announced or don't share at all. I doubt either will get to 70%.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. I'd love to hear the rationale of the guy who dropped Schilling from his ballot but kept Vizquel.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
now that the veterans committee (or whatever they're calling it these days)
has voted Kaat in, I hope that bodes well for Tommy John. simply from a Fame standpoint,
what other pitcher is referenced almost daily in baseball circles than the one from TJS lol
but seriously, I do want to live to see John enshrinedOSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

What are current ballots like vs last year.
Someone might have 80% from 30% of the ballots right now, but what if most of those 30% were people who already voted them in before?
We won't know the true number until it gets closer to 75-100%, but it would be nice seeing where guys stand based on if the voted counted so far are any different from last year.
And I'd imagine a number of the ones who we dont know of yet are the guys who probably would rather hide their vote if they are intentionally not voting someone, or sending in a blank ballot and so on.Comment

Rolen +7
Helton +6
Wagner +5
Schilling -13
Vizquel -34
Everyone else is pretty much treading water. Both new-school and old-school types like Big Papi, so he'll likely make it first ballot.Originally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
Here's how I would rate the chances of the following HOF classes:
2022
Probable 1st ballot (definitely making it eventually): Ortiz
Will probably make it a few years down the road: Rolen
Borderline, will likely need a late surge: Helton, Wagner, Rollins
How are folks feeling about roiders in 5-10 years?: A-Rod, Manny
Veterans Committee or bust: Bonds, Clemens, Sosa, Sheffield, Schilling, Kent, Andruw
If Veterans Committee is dominated by ex-Yankees at some point: Pettitte
No chance: Vizquel
2023
Probable 1st ballot (definitely making it eventually): Beltran
2024
Definite 1st ballot: Beltre
Probable 1st ballot (definitely making it eventually): Mauer
Will probably make it a few years down the road: Utley
Borderline, will likely need a late surge: Wright
Hey, he's in my Hall of Fame: Big Sexy, Joey Bats
2025
Definite 1st ballot: Ichiro
Probable 1st ballot (definitely making it eventually): Sabathia
Will probably make it a few years down the road: Pedroia, King Felix
Borderline, will likely need a late surge: Kinsler, Tulo
Longshot cause célèbre at some point: Zobrist
2026
Borderline, will likely need a late surge: Hamels
How are folks feeling about roiders in 5-10 years?: CanoOriginally posted by Thrash13Dr. Jones was right in stating that. Re: Hall Of Fame: Yes Or No?
Andruw Jones not being considered HOF worthy is still laughable to me.
That's taking off my homer glasses too. But I've talked about him ad nauseam.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.
