I never thought of Vizquel as a HOF. Great glove, ok bat, fWAR is below HOF standards.

Andruw though? Don't get me started.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

He came fairly close to 3000 hits (2877)

He became a very good base-stealer (6 seasons in top 10)

Tops all-time in fielding % @ SS, #1 6 times in his career
      3rd in assists
      11th in putouts
9th all-time in DWAR (29.5) marginally behind Luis Aparicio (31.8)

Not much point in getting into the hitting metrics

And again, I'll admit my bias. Seattle baseball isn't much to write home about. This guy was definitely one of the bright spots in their history, despite the fact he hardly hit a lick at that time.

.. I guess his vote % didn't fall off all that much (52.6% to 49%) Maybe if he has his name cleared he can still make a strong push in the future.

It's that time again. Ballot for 2022 unveiled today.

This will be one of the most interesting HOF years maybe ever.

After having no candidates in 2021, the 2022 ballot features newcomers like Ortiz and ARod.

Does Ortiz make it in on his first year?

Will ARod get in given his positive test/suspension? And if he does, does it happen in his first year, or will he wait up to 10 years for it?

And it's the final year for Bonds,Clemens,Sosa,Schilling. Do any get in?

A-Rod won't get in, now or in 10 years. His fate will be determined eventually by the Veterans Committee. Funny thing that Ortiz may actually get in when he also had a positive test but it seems it has been hand waved away.

The Ortiz argument seems to be that he was never suspended for using a banned substance. Which, Bonds and Clemens are in the same boat. And the courts never got Clemens on any charges. To me you either put all 4 in or none of them in. I vote all in. Either own up to your history or willfully ignore it. Those are the options. Baseball thrived in the post-strike era on the backs of those dudes.

Schilling is about politics, and the fact that he is an on-going PR nightmare. To me that one is harder than the others lol.

I view A-Rod differently than the rest since he actually got suspended after MLB stopped turning a blind eye. I view him similar to how I view Cano

Tim Lincecum and Prince Fielder on the ballot? Where has time gone?

Agree with all of this just about. Schilling isn't out here killing people, he just has been very vocal about his political views and those don't align with the media. Let him in. He shouldn't be left out because he hurt some feelings. The guy may be an idiot, but he had a HoF career. He shouldn't be punished for what he did off the field unless it was something like murder or what have you.

Let everybody in except for A-Rod. Yes I'd rather have Bonds in the hall instead of A-Rod.

Ortiz first ballot. Part of the Red Sox teams that ended the curse.

The group associated with steroids will have to wait for Veterans Committee.

Schilling deserving but he won't make it.

I've never really understood why Sosa isn't in. Is it just because he played during the steroid era that he's just lumped in there with all the other guys and people just assume he's tainted?

Sosa isn't really all that good.

if he isn't tainted, there is still the perception his corked bat certainly was

I don't really WANT to defend Sosa (see first half of this post),
but you don't get selected to 7 all-star games or as an MVP w/o being closer to somewhat good rather than

I thought it was evident, personally.

                              ...plus the corked bat.

But I rooted for the guy, 110%.
