That's taking off my homer glasses too. But I've talked about him ad nauseam.
He feels like the victim of writers/journalists constructing narratives and being unwilling to go back on them. Happens a lot. In his case (I'm assuming) the narrative is he had incredible success at a young age, but fell off at too young of an age, so therefore his career was a disappointment. He should have been great for 15 years, not just 10. And they ignore how insanely great those 10 years were.

Clemens is doing NFT **** now. I change my mind, don't want him in Hall anymore.

Roughly 40% of ballots revealed, and as of now the Big 3 are still above the threshold although Bonds and Clemens are slowly going down.

            Ortiz- 83.5
            Bonds- 79.1
            Clemens- 77.8
            Boston Red Sox
            1903 1912 1915 1916 1918 2004 2007 2013 2018

That’s amazing that someone would say yes to Bonds but no to Clemens. I’d think they’d have identical numbers

Everyone has their own dumb reasons.

For example, Dan Shaughnessy is the only voter from the Boston Globe to not vote for Ortiz. He probably has some high horse morality clause in his mind. For the second year in a row, his one and only vote went to Jeff Kent.

I personally think that the people that submit blank ballots only do that for attention and should have their voting privileges suspended for one class.

There's 30 names, if you can't check at least one you shouldn't get to vote.

I feel lots of voters shouldn't even be voting anymore.

There needs to be some actual criteria to continue voting.

Like you must have voted for a certain number of people who actually got selected to the HOF or else you're out.

Obviously guys aren't going in with 100% of votes, which is why there should be some leeway for the guys who actually didnt vote for someone who got inducted, but if 10 guys got in over the last X years, and only 5 of them were on your ballot, clearly you're not doing your job.

Encouraging news for some down-ballot candidates:

                    Rolen +12
                    Helton +11
                    Wagner +9
                    A. Jones +6

Imagine citing a “morality clause” and then voting for Jeff Kent…

He's never said anything about a morality clause. I just can't figure out why a Boston reporter that covered Ortiz for 97% of his career didn't vote him for the Hall.

So Ortiz gets to slide on the 2004 PED thing while everyone else gets bent over?

PLEASE post proof that Ortiz used anything. Please post anything outside of the 2003 Mitchell Report (which was concluded to include several false positives) that shows Ortiz failing a drug test. Show me anything that says exactly what Ortiz tested positive for.

From 2004-2016, David Ortiz was tested more than any other player, and NEVER ONCE tested positive.

But sure, keep falling back on an inconclusive report from 19 years ago.

I think a few players never tested positive but were obvious or at least accused users. Don't worry Ortiz will get in or there will be no HOF weekend.

Good heavens, is Ortiz your kinfolk?

It is a fact he was in the report. Whether folks want to take that with a grain of salt is up to them.
