Re: Your 2010 Hall of Fame Ballot
Trammell was a great player for the Tigers, he and Lou Whitaker might be the best Double Play duo of all time. Lee Smith was a great player too but well saves are an easy statistic to earn and just because he was one of the first to do it doesn't necessarily make him worthy of the HOF. I don't believe either should get in and ultimately they are on the same level of great players but not HOF quality.Comment

Re: Your 2010 Hall of Fame Ballot
I don't see how they're even on remotely similar levels. One combined excellent defense and offense at the 2nd most difficult position on the field, while the other was at the most easily replaceable position on the team. If Trammell isn't HoF quality, then Smith doesn't even belong on the ballot.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Your 2010 Hall of Fame Ballot
Ok I dont understand how Robbie Alomar is considered a 1st Ballot lock, yet Ryne Sandberg needed to wait 3 years to get in.
Not a knock on Alomar, more on the BBWAA.
But my last second predictions are Alomar, Dawson, and Blyleven barely sneaks in.

267 total votes amongst 56 total voters. That averages out to 4.7 votes per member.
Anyone know the average for the BBWAA?"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Where was the Dawson support before this year?
I can't believe Alomar didn't make it and Blyleven was 5 FREAKIN' votes shy?

There are the full results. Edgar Martinez finished with less than 40 percent. Congratulations, BBWAA, you continue to show how inept and moronic you are.Comment
