Cliff Lee "scratched" from tomorrow's start due to neck stiffness.. or is he packing his bags?

Is it the beginning of the end.. :/

      No chance breh.

I heard Amaro was looking into adding Gregerson. I don't think he has the cajones to sell. Too worried about his job.

I'd like Gregerson and buying a bit but they announced Lee's scratch a day early. Leaves me curious - they have 24 or so hours to work out a trade.

If it were a trade, I don't think they would have scratched him just yet. Seems like a legit injury.

I'm not denying he has a legit stiff neck, but at the same time it is a bit curious that he is announced as scratched for tomorrow the same day reports surface that the Phillies are going to listen to offers for Lee.

If Lee is traded and a team's #1 prospect isn't included in a deal, then the trade is a failure.

Agreed. He's gonna need a HUGE coup back.

All I know is the Red Sox better stay away! No way in hell I'd like to give up Bogaerts+ for 2-3 years of Lee.

Do these sound like the words of a man intent on dealing Cliff Lee?

"Although we don't have any desire to move a guy like that [Cliff Lee] because we view him as someone who will be key to our future, I am a businessperson as well and I'll be a good listener"

                  -MLBTR

Does this sound like a man who really has the gumption to deal any fan faves at all?

"I can't sit here and say I'm not going to trade Chase (Utley), or Cliff, or Michael Young or Chooch (Carlos Ruiz), or any of these guys," he says. "Some guys are less tradeable than others. But I think I owe it to us as an organization to listen."

I interpret this as "no way in **** am I being the one who deals Cliff Lee and gets too little in return." And, "over my dead body and still-warm corpse, will I deal a guy like Chase Utley, but I have to tell people I'm trying to in order to keep people off my ***"

I also hear a little of "Whether I deal these guys or not, I probably won't be around to see us become a serious threat again, so **** it, I'll do what I want."

Exactly. After the horrendous Lee trade to the Mariners back in 2009 and the garbage we got back from them, Amaro absolutely CAN'T screw this up if in fact Lee is on the move. He just can't. For example, if the Cardinals want in, better have Oscar Taveras ready to pack his bags.

The way Ruben Amaro works with things so close to the vest, it really wouldn't surprise me if he has something cooking and they "scratched" Lee tomorrow to protect him from the possibility of getting hurt. All theoretical though. Could be a real stiff neck, even though Phillies beat writers are saying Lee is showing no signs of the ailment and was even participating in pre-game practice.

Those not in Philly don't understand that Ruben Amaro is a pathological liar. Always has been. Back in the winter of 2009 the Phillies weren't talking to Roy Halladay according to Amaro. The next day...BOOM! Halladay traded and extended. Gotta give him some credit, he has a poker face.

He might have a poker face, but if only he were a good GM too!

Figured this is the place for this:

The Cards were rumored to have some interest in Mark Buehrle. What do you guys think the Jays could get for him?

Not a terribly legit rumor, but I'm curious.

Also, best place to put this too I guess:

Phillies to sign Miguel Alfredo Gonzalez

                            ugh

I'm pretty sure Lee and Kyle Kendrick are now on the market.
