Is Ruben Amaro capable of selling? He took over right after the WS title in '08, and they've basically made the playoffs most of the time or were in contention since then. I just wonder if Amaro knows anything about that side of the equation.

Amaro would be smart to sell the RIGHT players who still have value but are on the downside. The Phillies are an aging team but they have some pieces that contending teams may want. It'd be a quick way to restock the organization.

I totally agree. I just wonder if he really knows how to do that or can even admit it's time to sell. Aside from dealing Pence to the Giants, I can't think of many sell moves. Maybe he did deals like that as an assistant GM?

If not, he should step aside and let Pat Gillick do it for him.

Sounds like Soriano to the Yankees is very close to happening, Dale Sveum saying that a deal is ninety-nine percent done. Theo called to have him pulled from the game.

Yes! One of my favorite, past Yankees returning home.

I hope Soriano tears it up.

This is one time I will be rooting for the Yankees.

Looks like a pitching prospect is being sent back to Chicago. "Both sides have agreed on which pitching prospect will be going to the Cubs" The only name that is constantly coming to me is Manny Banuelos.

                        Where did you hear that?

I seriously doubt it. Banuelos is probably their best pitching prospect except for maybe Pineda. He had Tommy John surgery and is out this year so he's fallen off a bit, but I still really doubt the Yankees would trade him in this trade, and all the reports say a lower tier pitching prospect.

That was just speculation, I doubt the Yankees even considered Banuelos. The talk was mid to lower tiered pitching prospect the whole time. It was rumored to be a reliever. NY had leverage, it was the only place Sori would accept a deal to.

Corey Black is the guy we're getting though. I'm reading that the Cubs view him as a power reliever. ~ 97 mph fastball and a good curve. He was a 4th round pick in 2012. That's about all I know about him.

Sad to see Sori go, but it had to be done. Best of luck to him in NY.

I'm hearing talk of Bud Norris to the Braves as well as Michael Young possibly being traded back to the Rangers.

Just thought i'd throw that out there.

If the Phillies sell Utley I don't think I could watch baseball until he retires. It would be too depressing.
