Seems like they gave up a lot. Hopefully Garza can be a strong #2.

Harrison has been out since April, and I'm just assuming that he won't return in 2013. Darvish and Holland have been two of the best pitchers in baseball this year. A Darvish/Holland/Garza/Perez rotation could be great in the postseason. They just need a RH bat now.

lol, I meant Holland. Don't know why I said Harrison!

Either way, the Cubbies got a GREAT return for 2 months + Playoff chance of Garza.

I'm holding my excitement until the deal is officially announced by the teams and we find out more about that PTBNL.

But, from what we know now, very solid deal for Garza. If the PTBNL list includes Ramirez, like the reports say, that turns this into one hell of a deal for the Cubs.

Not bad of a haul for 2 months of Garza.

Beauty return on a sketchy rental. GJ Cubbies. Solid trade for both teams but I like the Cubs' return.

Helluva freaking deal for Garza. Sad to see him go but damn we got a good haul back. Also Ramirez is on the pool list of the PTBNL

                  Happy days.

@BleacherNation: Cubs officially announce Garza trade as for Olt, Grimm, Edwards, and TWO players to be named later.

I'm thinking that if we're getting two PTBNL's, they aren't going to be Ramirez type guys.

.. Unless Texas is absolutely out of their minds. Which, you won't hear me complaining if so.

I think the return's pretty good for a rental, but in comparing what the prospects might give us against a 3-5 year extension for Garza (rather than just 2 months of him), I'm not so sure we're coming out ahead.

It's TBD, but I don't view any of the guys coming over as locks to even be solid MLB regulars. I know I'm in the minority on that. We shall see...

I like the trade for the Cubs. Grimm's xFIP shows that he has a much better stat line than his ERA suggests, and I was actually really interested in Olt when Texas offered him to Atlanta. However, his vision problems in 2013 has pushed his stock down tremendously.

Grimm's LOB% is probably due for a little positive regression but his HR/FB% looks about right, I think his 4.79 FIP is about right and that he's been pretty mediocre this year.

However, he's been pitching in the AL, in Arlington of all places. I like Grimm, I'm confident he'll pitch well for Chicago.

                              Fantastic Haul.

But I'm pretty bummed about this..
Cubs had to accept Grimm instead of
                              Odor
                              after
                              Rangers
                              raised issues about Garza's elbow.
Still for a 2 month Rental, great job.

Cubs have enough infielders, honestly. I like Odor but Grimm is a really nice young SP and the Cubs could use some SP prospects.
