It's a move to the future, really. Lee is signed long term and JJ is an expiring. JJ+ for Lee would be such a ridiculously amazing move. AA's shown he CAN make good trades (hasn't since Ramsus but still), and Amaro probably isn't the best GM.. but I'll eat my shorts if this ever happens.

Edit: IF this happened, I would assume this is how the deal would go down.

Lee + Howard('s horrifyingly awful contract)
    FOR
JJ + Jimenez + Gose + Bonifacio or something. Mainly though, I'm sure we'd be eating Howard's contract.
Gose is a guy I know the Phillies would like to have back. Same with D'Arnaud. Amaro said he regrets including D'Arnaud in the Halladay deal.

Yeah, that's why I included Gose. Always thought you guys would like him back.

As a Phillies fan (obviously), what would you think of what our blogger/wannabe insider is suggesting? I think it'd be a laughably horrendous trade for you guys.

now that I think about it, Arencibia could be going back too. Seems like a real Amaro guy.

I agree. It would be horrendous. I haven't heard many good things about Hayhurst as an insider so I would take anything he says with a grain of salt. I would definitely love to have Gose back, but I can't really see a package from the Blue Jays for Lee that would blow Amaro away. Granted Lee makes a lot of money but he is under control through 2015 with an option for 2016, so a team would most likely have to blow the Phillies through the roof with an offer.

I think an even trade for Lee would be around Aaron Sanchez (consensus top 25 prospect, I think). I guess Amaro just loves JJ or the "prospect and spare part" stuff would be huge.

6 games left on this homestand. 3 with the Nationals and 3 with the White Sox. Phils are currently 3-1 on the homestand so far, so decisions will be made either way come the All-Star break.

If the Marlins were to listen to offers for Cishek, they’d likely command another team’s top prospect.

Hypothetically, let’s say the Tigers were interested in Cishek. To get the Marlins’ full attention, they’d probably have to have Nick Castellanos, Detroit’s No. 1 prospect according to MLB.com, in the package.
Lmao, a team's #1 prospect for Steve Cishek? How about no.

I guess in the warped mind of the Marlins they believe Cishek is the equivalent of Mariano Rivera. Haha. If any GM gave up a #1 prospect for Cishek he should be fired on the spot.

Mitchell Boggs traded to Colorado for international signing bonus money.

Had to be done, Boggs isn't working in St. Louis so a change of scenery will hopefully work well for him. When he's effective he is great but he has just been getting pounded in every opportunity he has gotten this year.

I hope he can turn it around in Colorado, very low risk move for the Rockies for an arm that can be a great setup man if he can get right, definitely not a closer though.

Red Sox have added lefty Matt Thorton for Brandon Jacobs. Thorton hasn't done well but Jacobs isn't a significant loss at all, so i think it could end well.

I like Jacobs a lot. Think this is a win for the Sox- erm, the white ones, haha.

Why? He hasn't done anything truly productive down in the minors, granted he did have that injury and lately has heated up (which helped his value) but i didn't like him. Thorton should be a pretty nice LOOGY for the Red Sox for the remainder of the year.

He has great tools and has put together a .346 wOBA in his time in the minors (not including all of 2 games this year obviously). Underrated because of a bad batting average.

I keep hearing Mike Olt's name in the Garza to Texas rumors.

I really do not want Mike Olt..
