Lee and Hamels are quite obviously both very good, but Gonzalez is a bit of a question mark and you guys probably don't have the depth to compete. Y'all need to sell already lol.

Shoot, trade Papelbon and Utley to Detroit for Castellanos and a lower tier pitching prospect.

I don't know if Detroit does that. I wouldn't. Paps is quite obviously locked into some big time dough, has lost a full 1.5 MPH off his fastball, and has taken quite a sharp decline in K-rate. Utley is a rental and while he's been better than Infante, he hasn't been better to the extent that it'd be worth Castallenos+, especially because Infante has been playing extremely well in his own right.

No reason for Detroit to make that trade, honestly. Not to mention that that still doesn't address Philadelphia's pitching depth issues. Brett Anderson could be a very, very nice target for them, though.

Cubs "listening on Samardzija." If that means Archie Bradley or Tyler Skaggs, ok. If not, other teams can stfu with their offers.

Doesn't surprise me. But I agree, unless it's a great package with a Bradley/Skaggs type of guy, then get out.

I'd imagine that if we're listening to offers for Samardzija, nobody is safe, with the exception of Rizzo (and maybe Castro). Surprised we haven't heard any Barney rumors yet.

imo it's because he is proving without a doubt he can't hit.

I don't think Castro is safe.

Castro has not been good this year, hopefully we'll see some kind of improvement here in the second half.

Sometimes, I forget that Starlin is only 23. He produced so well at such a young age that I think that most fans aren't giving him a fair chance. He's got a ton of potential, and I just think these are some growing pains. I've heard some stuff about a stance/swing change. Whatever it is, I think he figures it out.

Castro is safe this year, but if he continues to tank, I think we'd listen to offers next year.

Totally agree. Castro has a 0% chance of getting dealt this year. He's got his average back up to .250 from the .220s. The Cubs have no incentive to sell low on him whatsoever.

Castro is hitting .318/.375/.477 with an OPS of .852 in the month of July. He's getting back to where he was. Also His defense has been flawless this month.

Only way he is getting moved is for a Stanton or Price IMO. or someone of that caliber.

I think you'll at least listen right now but it'd take a large price.

O's might be the one to make a major move:

Wonder what a return on Lee would be if the Orioles wanted him. I imagine Gausman/Bundy + Schoop + ?

Can they trade Bundy? He's injured. I think that'd be a good expectation for a return, though I doubt anything happens. I read not a week ago that they were capped out on their trade budget. Plus, they've gotta extend Weiters, and Davis will be getting an arb raise. Dunno if they can take on a Peavy or a Lee.

The Rangers have discussed trading Joe Nathan. I wonder what they could get from Detroit, because they're hurting for bullpen help.

BOS might have the best package to offer the Phillies, but the rival Yanks/O's are also in the race for Michael Young:

Phils probably get more value since there's three teams in the same division after him, I'm guessing.
