Well yea, Iglesias did good. But he did good as of late. He is known to be veeeeeery inconsistent. I see him at peak hittin in the .260-.270 range. He's coming back down to earth, and falling fast. Can he keep it up? We'll find out in Detroit.

EDIT: and the most obvious, stated by Bard, Xander

Only good for his defense and also we have this guy named Xander.

Dunno about steal. Peavy FAv by year:

        2007 93.9
        2008 92.6
        2009 91.8
        2010 91.1
        2011 90.4
        2012 90.7
        2013 89.8

Peavy's giving up 1.58 HR/9 on a 13.1% HR/FB%. That's not going to regress at Fenway. He also had his injury, as he always has, and he's 32. He's not cheap, either. 4.09 FIP. His sustainability peripherals seem right on base, and I think this is the Peavy we'll see. ~150 innings of 4.09 FIP. Contact% up, O-Swing% down. That's a #3 and I dunno if it's a steal. And now, some even nerdier talk!

        Surplus value ($9m/fWAR, per ZiPS)
Peavy projected: 2.1*9-14.5= $4.4m surplus value
        Iglesias projected: 1.2*9-2.065=$8.735m surplus value

And this isn't even taking into account the obvious undervaluation of Iglesias' defense through rather imperfect defensive metrics.

why wouldn't we? he is a good glove and thats it. We have Bogaerts in the minors and with Middlebrooks coming back, Iglesia is not really needed. And even if Middlebrooks doesn't work out with have Cecchini to replace him. The Sox's have a lot of 3B and SS better than Iglesia, overall.

I love Iggy's defense, but his stick isn't good. The three other players are meh. We get a depth pen guy. Peavy will help us. Yeah, steal...also Red Sox bias here but a lot of people agree with me so i don't think that matters here lol, and yes could have used commas but bringing up points

Yeah, we are stacked out of the *** with players on the left side, Iggy was expendable for us to trade.

I just showed a variety of ways I disagree. Was expecting a little more than a circular rebuttal haha.

Gotta think that Chicago wins this deal

Peavy is kind of a mixed bag, but maybe playing on a contender rejuvenates him. Injury prone, and he left his best years way behind him in San Diego, but I could see how this could help, but it's not a game changer. Not a bad pick up I guess.

I'm sure if they didn't have an Xander Bogaerts in the system, that would be different.

I like this trade for the Red Sox better than I do them giving up a ton (Bogaerts) to get Lee. Ultimately, I think Lee gets traded at the deadline next year. But with Amaro, absolutely nothing would surprise me. He's about as wishy-washy as they come.

It's a fair argument. I've had my share of doubts about Iggy's bat as well.

But if you can't hit, what's the point? Yea, Glove means ALOT to a middle-infielder, but if you hit .210, you aren't fit for a big league club. I will miss his glove, but definitely bot his bat.

Overall, Chicago got Garcia, which makes them a winner in the long run.
