Just looked over your OP again. I agree, he is the only one deserving of further suspension.Last edited by VTPack919; 09-26-2013, 02:42 PM.YNWAComment

The only one that acted like a bitch was Reed Johnson.

He has a negative WAR over the course of his last two seasons with Atlanta. Losing him would actually help you, therefore he is a bum.Comment

If he was a starter I would agree. I consider him a valuable pinch hitter, but to each his own. I don't consider vets with career BA over .275 bums. We all have different standards though.YNWAComment

welp I see Mcann getting the leader narrative. Maybe what gomez did was over the top but so was Mcann's. So the Braves are now the leaders of the council of the Home Run trot's?
I guess I'm in the minority on this.Wolverines Packers Cubs Celtics

I thought the Braves were a bit too sensitive with Fernandez a few weeks ago. But I've got no problem with how McCann handled Gomez.Comment

Re: 9/23 - 9-29 Game Discussion Thread: The Final Week of the Season
I love everyone's totally unbiased opinions on this topic after watching replays on sports shows and the Internet. I was watching the game live and everything about it seemed completely surreal. From Gomez's huge swing on the first pitch and subsequent stare down of Maholm all the way up to the next pitch, to the fact that Maholm threw the exact pitch in the exact location as if to say, "okay, let's see how far you can hit a baseball, big man." Everything leading up to all the drama was completely out of line. As I'm typing this I'm listening to ESPN's goons argue about it. McCann was protecting his pitcher, the Braves were protecting McCann, the Brewers were protecting Gomez. In my opinion, bias or not, the only people out of line here were Gomez and Reed Johnson. Both are worthy of suspension and that's all there is to this. Cry about the Braves enforcing some unwritten rules all you want but the way I see it, they handled it much better than a pitcher plunking that batter the next time he comes to the plate. We see way too much of that these days.Alabama Crimson Tide

McCann escalated the confrontation.
No matter how asshurt you are because the guy stared down his homer, if you stand there blocking home and refusing to move, you're escalating the confrontation.
People stare down homers all the time. Pujols does it every ****ing time he hits one, not to that extent but he does.
Baseball's unwritten rules are so ****ing stupid. And people constantly complain that the NFL is no fun.Member: OS Uni Snob Association | Twitter: @MyNameIsJesseG | #WT4M | #WatchTheWorldBurn

Re: 9/23 - 9-29 Game Discussion Thread: The Final Week of the Season
Watching a newer video on MLB.com, it looks like McCann started talking to Gomez first.

Now it could have been that they were having a friendly conversation, but I doubt it. Carlos looks kind of ticked off, after talking to Brian.Comment

Re: 9/23 - 9-29 Game Discussion Thread: The Final Week of the Season
I know he had a previous altercation with Maholm. But I'm curious to know what Brian said to him. I really can't tell, I get a feeling that it was along the lines of. McCann saying "let's not start this garbage again, forget the past", or him saying something smart to Gomez. Gomez had the look of Yea, alright bitch I got something for ya, or he might have just have been amused. i can't tell.Comment
