I don't mind when players admire home runs.

This time it wasn't about admiration.

People call that admiring a home run? Talk about over simplification. I don't mind admiring your work.

          Quotes courtesy of the AJC:

So Gomez admits it goes back to when he was hit in June:

I’ve been seven years in the league and I know when I get hit on purpose and when not. And I get hit many times and I put my head down.
Says he understands McCann's action (and basically admits he was acting like an idiot):

(McCann) was screaming at me but you expect that because I hit a home run and pimp it up. If I’m from the other side I’d be doing that too. But I’m not afraid to do this.
Says the Braves started the talking:

The reason that I was talking is because they talked to me back and I responded.
Which home plate umpire Dana DeMuth disputes:

(Gomez) started getting on the pitcher as soon as he left the batter’s box. When he went around first, Freeman had a little reaction with stuff. No other infielder did and then we had what happened at home plate.

            And Gomez apologizes.

lol maybe his apology would hold weight if he hasn't proven to be a piece of **** his entire career thus far.

Maholm didn't hit him on purpose in June. McCann was setting up inside. MLB Network just showed it.

Nope. They ruled that the run will count anyway though because he would have touched home had McCann not obstructed.

Still not sure why Freddie was ejected. If any Brave should have been ejected, it's McCann.

This wasn't admiring your work, this was being a complete asshat to the entire opposing team.

Like...there is a reason why this has never happened before. Because you aren't supposed to do that. Geez. Nearly everybody I listened to was saying Gomez should've gotten hit after that first swing and stare down. Hole thing was stupid.

And then he homers, does his overreacted bat flip and stare down, then starts jawing. ALL ACROSS THE BASEPATHS. Just shut up, run the bases, and scores your run.

Now, for Todd Helton, it was sad to see him leave Coors Field for the last time. What a great player, and the face of the Rockies.

So apparently Freeman was tossed for, "talking back to Gomez when no other infielder did?" I didn't know telling someone to shut his mouth and finish rounding the bases was an ejectable offense. Jeez.

McCann earned a lot of respect for that defense of his pitcher at home plate. He was one wrong word from Gomez away from knocking him the **** out.

Riveras final game at Yankee Stadium is tonight. I'm guessing he'll pitch in the 9th(even if the game is tied or Yankees are losing)

When something halfway entertaining to me happens in baseball, it's always viewed by the majority as classless or something similar.

It was classless by Gomez for sure, but as someone who typically doesn't care about MLB and considers it a pretty vanilla league, it entertains me.

Was reading an article earlier today and the guy quoted one of his fellow sportswriters as, "there isn't a veteran leader worth a grain of salt who wouldn't have done what McCann did."
