The Astros parlayed the Brady Aiken debacle into 3 of the best 10 players in the draft on the day Correa debuted for their 1st-place team.

We'll see where all these guys actually end up. No sense in claiming victory yet.

Not really the point. Even if these guys bust, that shouldn't really be allowed to happen ever.

Ah, I see what you mean. I definitely agree. The whole Aiken situation still boggles my mind.

This is supposedly one of the worst draft classes in years but projecting MLB talent is easily the most subjective in the 4 major sports.

We'll see how these guys pan out. The Astros haven't done a particularly great job with previous draft picks.

As I said in the other thread, they could have had Buxton and Bryant and instead have Correa and Appel.

Correa over Buxton might actually have been a very good pick, depending on Buxton's medical situation at the time. As well, Correa allowed them to grab McCullers.

Appel over Bryant was egregious and indefensible, though.

That would have been something Correa and Bryant on the left side of the infield! Oh what could have been.

The astros have a great farm system and Rangers are rebuilding there farm system as well. Its great for this market as the Astros havent really mattered since early -mid 2000's. The team struck a deal with Comcast which pulled them from half the city Tv's for 4 years so nobody seemed to follow. All of this young new blood hopefully continues to drive the team and bring the fans back
                      atleast..Its not Delaware

Just throwing some caution to the wind here but MLB has seen some teams stockpile on youth like this and also to a lesser extent and it's done nothing but add more years of misery.

                        - mid to late '80s Indians
                        - early to mid '80s Cubs (though that did produce a couple playoff appearances)
                        - "Generation K" the trio of Mets pitchers that were supposed to be the backbone of the rotation for a decade (Bill Pulsipher, Jason Insringhausen and Paul Wilson)
                        - Another trio from the late '90s for the Blue Jays with Roy Halladay, Chris Carpenter and Kelvim Escobar throw in Shawn Green and Carlos Delgado into that mix. They never lived up to their full potential as a team.

So yeah...The jury is still out but thanks to having 2 Wild Cards in baseball now the chances for success for the Astros and Cubs are higher.

Didn't the late 1990's Indians have a great team as well...I remember playing with them in Ken Griffey Slugfest and that lineup was amazing. Thome, Manny, Roberto Alomar, Kenny Lofton, Omar Vizquel. I don't remember anyone on their staff though.

Most of that team wasn't homegrown though, that's the point i'm making.
