I think we could even give putting sponsors on the baseballs outside of just Rawlings. Look at these colors. You know you want it.

Lol, future of baseball. Analytics showing a guys stats when hitting against a blue ball vs red ball. Or a pitchers ERA and WHIP when throwing yellow vs purple.

Right, and then they offer a premium video service on MLB.com where if you pay an extra $10 you can watch the game without the ads in the outfield.

Seriously though, other sports around the world have those ads on the playing surface - rugby league and Australian football league come to mind - and it is truly awful to watch.

Doesn't the NFL do ads on the field sometimes between plays

And my expansion idea would benefit consumer. People might say its making teams less deep, but it just gives more opportunities to more players and possibly even adding extra playoff spot leading to more teams being in playoff race.

And not really a money thing, but the pitch clock I think would make it more enjoyable to watch since that eliminates more unnecessary dead time in games.
Even if jerseys arent sold with advertisement, it is still a potential eye sore as the consumer watching the game. Though I've always been a fan of clean and sleek looks.

The expansion idea doesn't just create less depth it waters down the product overall. If it were a pie chart there would be more segments of the pie but its total size would be lower. You would have a league wide reduction in the average level of talent per team or you would increase the talent discrepancy between the haves and the have nots and neither of those imo is good for the consumer.

I can only imagine the Dodgers or Yankees with their payrolls playing against some expansion team spending 1/3rd of the money in a league that is diluted with talent. It's hard enough for 30 teams right now to find 5 MLB quality starters and enough MLB quality bullpen arms.

Its crazy to think how good the Marlins rotation would be right now if they didn’t make some trades.

Obviously the top two guys on the list aren't with the team anymore and they were both involved in some pretty lopsided trades in hindsight, but considering they still have 3 of the 5 and a solid collection of young arms in the minors they can still put together a pretty solid homegrown rotation if these guys continue to develop

Imagine they kept those guys and Jose Fernandez doesn’t die...Yelich, Ozuna, Realmuto and Stanton are still in Miami and they are one if the best teams in the NL.

Not to mention Jose Fernandez. Imagine if he was still around, too. They locked him up for a long time, and he didn't seem to have any sort of downturn.

I mean, knowing Jeter he probably would have dumped him, but there you go, more talent.

EDIT: Obviously I didn't see your post, Sportsforever. I was already in the thread before your post was created.

Remember a few weeks back when the Yankees DSL team won a game 38-2?

Yeah, last night they scored 19 runs in the 2nd inning.
