The Dodgers literally have 8 starting pitchers on the team too. Where are any of the non-Archer Rays' arms going to slot in? Would we really want to flip the 19 year old with a 27% K rate for a pitcher with a 4.33 FIP either?
You can't knock Archer for having a 17 HR/FB%. Kind of cherry picking FIP here. 88 xFIP-, which I'm sure you're aware of.

Longoria has one of the most reasonable contracts in the league. He's a 4 win player with a lower AAV than JA Happ. It's not like Friedman needs to give a **** about money, but Archer + Longoria would be one of the cheapest possible packages to add wins.

      Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread

With ambitions of reaching the World Series for the first time since 1988, the Los Angeles Dodgers are expected to be major players leading into the non-waiver trade deadline. Sitting 4 1/2 games back of the San Francisco Giants in the division and occupying a wild-card spot, the Dodgers are said to be "big-game hunting" with ambitions of making an impact move rather than incremental upgrades, a rival executive told Jerry Crasnick of ESPN.The Dodgers have failed to move past the NLDS in the two years under the front-office tandem of Farhan Zaidi and Andrew Friedman despite boasting MLB's top payroll.Crasnick believes the Dodgers might be more motivated to pursue a Chris Archer-type pitcher as opposed to a middle-of-the-rotation arm like fellow Tampa Bay Rays teammates Jake Odorizzi or Drew Smyly, as Los Angeles has Clayton Kershaw, Hyun-Jin Ryu, Scott Kazmir, Brandon McCarthy, and Kenta Maeda all under contract next season. The Dodgers certainly have the budget and the prospects to consummate a major deal and are in need of a starter with Kershaw, Brett Anderson, Ryu, and Alex Wood all currently occupying the DL.While top pitching prospect Julio Urias is likely untouchable, the Dodgers could still dangle Jose De Leon, Frankie Montas, and Grant Holmes, or could include All-Star outfielder Yasiel Puig in a package."Everything is a negotiation. But I think our farm system is deeper than it's ever been at this point," Friedman told Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register last week. "That allows us the opportunity to have more meaningful conversations with other teams."

The command has eroded, so he's taken a demonstrable step back this year. But he's still valuable enough that the Rays would probably still get a pretty big return for him, which is why I'm a bit skeptical about getting him.

Longoria has one of the most reasonable contracts in the league. He's a 4 win player with a lower AAV than JA Happ. It's not like Friedman needs to give a **** about money, but Archer + Longoria would be one of the cheapest possible packages to add wins.
Yeah, I know Longoria gave the Rays a massive hometown discount a few years ago, but he's getting to the not-so-cheap phase of his contract ($100 million over the next 6 years). That's still a nice bargain for a player of Longoria's ability, but it's not cheap. And Friedman clearly does give a **** about money since he let Zack Greinke walk last year rather than pay him $200 million. The Dodgers have made some rumblings about getting the payroll under the luxury tax threshold, too.

The Dodgers already have a 3B who does a pretty good Longoria impression himself, at a fraction of the cost. If we traded for Longoria, we'd have to bench Utley and play Turner out of position at 2B.

Indians and Brewers discussing Jonathan Lucroy.
              Rangers acquire Scott Carroll.

Cubs and Mariners have a trade in the works. Mike Montgomery maybe headed to Chicago. Vogelbach also involved.

Woah so much right now. Lucroy to the Indians would shock me, Rangers need to make a late push!

Cubs and Mariners fit perfectly for this kind of trade, simple but effective for both sides.

Might be others in the deal, from Morosi.

I'm interested as well, can't be any big names right? What do the Cubs honestly need? They added a lefty, who is cheaper and has more years of control than Chapman/Miller.

Mariners would love to take more from their farm system.
