The idea of Felix for Kris Bryant is a total joke.

Kris Bryant >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Felix at this point.

the ONLY name that could be brought up for a Kris Bryant would be Mike Trout. MAYBE Kershaw (depending on his health).

Other than that....the phone on the Cubs end would be dead silent.

Bryant is probably front runner for NL MVP this year. He's only 24 and going to get better.

On another note...I picked some text out of an ESPN article quoting Theo Epstein on today's Mike Montgomery-Dan Vogelbach deal...

“I like making this kind of a move early,” Cubs president Theo Epstein said. “We hope we’ve added to our big league pen without taking anything away from our big league roster. We also haven’t touched certain parts of our prospect inventory that will keep us viable for every opportunity that’s still out there between now and Aug. 1.

“Sometimes, you can be in an uncomfortable spot where you haven’t done anything, and you’re sitting there July 31 this year, and you’re waiting for a yes or a no. It’s hard not to throw that last player in just to get a deal done. I like doing something that you like instead of something you fall back on. It gives you the ability to say no or draw the line if you need to.

        ...

“Sometimes with these bullpen pieces, it’s important to get them on the way there. Maybe [Montgomery] hasn’t fully arrived yet. I’m not saying he’s Andrew Miller -- very few are -- but we traded for Andrew Miller in Boston when I was there in November 2010, hoping he could put it together in the bullpen someday. And he did. That’s how some guys are. If you wait until they are fully established, the price tag is virtually impossible to acquire.

        ...

“He [Montgomery] was always on our radar,” Epstein said. “We kind of separated into different buckets. The guys who were sort of established, impact guys. And we’ll still be in on those guys. We’re still interested in improving the pen if we can.

I love that Theo is totally sending a message to Cashman here. Saying that, dude, we're gonna get Miller and you're also going to lower the price for us since we have more leverage now. Ballsy comment if you read between the lines.

I don't think they'll get Miller. I think they may go another smaller piece...plus Joe Nathan is probably going to be ready by the weekend and they still have Brian Matusz in Iowa, who could be that other lefty (who can be downright filthy).

Still would love to see my Cards do something in the bullpen. I think Oh has done a great job but think they are missing that lock down guy for the 9th. I've heard a lot of fans saying Chapman...but with him only being a rental...I'm not willing to pay the price for him which is probably going to start with Alex Reyes.

You might get more value in a Mike Trout for Ryan Braun deal than this.

It's a legit question whether Felix would even get claimed if the Mariners put him on waivers. He's no longer any kind of ace and he's due $79 million over the next 3 years.

The list of guys you trade Bryant for probably begins and ends with Mike Trout. And even that's not a slam dunk by any means when you factor in team control and cost.

I would add Harper to that list and be able to sleep at night.

Harper's a free agent in two years and is having a pretty dramatic down year, so I wouldn't.

Hence you have his loyal supporters/M's fans somewhat seriously offering him up in hypothetical trades all of a sudden.

Theo does not have the upper hand. The Yanks are in the drivers seat. Cubs aren't the only buyers. Cash is a shrewd man, he's not going to part with Miller unless the return is to good to pass up, and why should he?

I think Chapman will be the main sell, and possibly Beltran. And I think the Yank's take their business elsewhere. My guess is Cleveland or Washington.

I'd rather deal with Washington. Cubs asking price is too high.

Cleveland wont give the overpay the Yankees are looking for either. i dont think any team does. i know the Yankees asked for Frazier for Miller in a deal and the Indians flat out said no.

No longer an ace? He's still one of the best pitchers in the AL. And had a sub 3 ERA before last night, and would still have if the homeplate ump wasn't a complete idiot. He also has a sub .220 OPP AVG. He doesn't throw 97 anymore, but he can still pitch. And I was only suggesting it to see what we could get. And he has a very team friendly deal, so no question he'd get claimed on trade waivers, or any kind of waivers. He'd have huge value if we made him available this deadline or in the offseason. Do I think he get's moved? Not a chance, but we should listen. And the conversation would start and end with a teams 3-5 top prospects. Maybe to the Dodgers for a package centering around Julio Urias?

Some team will eventually crack, there's plenty of suitors. Aroldis will no doubt get moved. There's plenty of teams with playoff aspirations that would be wise to go after Chapman or Miller hard, those guys are as automatic as it gets.
