Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
Wonder who would be in this deal, if Turner isn't would assume he would be shipped off for a RP or SP. But would think even with Longoria one of the Rays arms are coming as well.Come hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
Odorizzi, Moore, Ramirez, Smyly, maybe Archer as an outside shot as one of the arms coming back. EL might be a longshot, but Logan Forsythe is also being kicked around.Last edited by ShowTyme15; 07-18-2016, 07:31 PM.Comment

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
Counterpoint. Essentially doing a bullpen transplant from the Yankees to the Cubs is a very appealing thought.
Knowing Theo/Hoyer and how they love their old Red Sox players, I could see then getting a heavily-subsidized Jacoby Ellsbury in there as well as bullpen guys.
Let's just say with the recent history of working together (Castro-Warren deal) and the obvious matches all along the rosters, I'd be surprised if there weren't at least one Cubs-Yankees deal.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
I'd rather not part with Schwarber and Eloy both AND Soler just in the name of bullpen arms. If we can sneak in Schwarber-light (Vogelbach) or Schwarber-heavy, as the case may actually be, instead of Schwarber then I'm on board. Or if we have Betances in there somehow. Probably Brett Gardner as well

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
I see your point, but I'm still okay with getting rid of all of them. Jimenez is at least 2 more years away. Schwarber is great but he's a DH and will be an issue in the OF for years to come. I like Soler more than most Cubs fans probably, and he's actually the guy I'd least like to get rid of, but I don't know if there's room for him anymore with how Baez has been playing. Billy McKinney is still around, too. At some point, some of these guys have to move as there's just no room for them all.
If Betances can be put in there, I'm all aboard. I'd rather stay away from Gardner and Ellsbury.
EDIT: As to how I see Eloy, Soler, and Schwarber. I agree that Kyle's ultimate calling is a top DH in the AL, but I think we keep him, let him smack some homers and deal him when he's about to get expensive. I've moved on from Soler. He reminds me of [insert any previous inconsistent Cubs player that never lived up to his potential here]. Eloy Jimenez was the #1 ranked IFA in the year the Cubs gave him a huge bonus and he's just starting to tap into that now. It might be a mistake to deal this kid (who could end up being the Jorge Soler we thought we'd get out of Jorge Soler). Jimenez is laying waste to A ball and is likely to get to A+ before too much longer.Last edited by WaitTilNextYear; 07-18-2016, 07:54 PM.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

If we include Schwarber for a deal involving relievers (as dominant as they may be) I might not ever watch baseball again.Chicago Cubs

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
Just spitballing here, but that would cost Urias + De Leon + Bellinger + a little bit more? It would fit LA like a glove though and make them instant co-contenders with the Cubs/Giants/Nats for NL supremacy.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
That'd be a great deal for baseball. A top phenom Urias heading to Tampa, and two big names like Longoria and Archer in LA. I would personally love that as a baseball fan.Come hang with me on YouTube! I stream/make videos on a variety of games from sports, to action, to adventure!

Yeah and there's the Friedman angle. Those were his players in Tampa. I'm sure he still covets them, much like Theo always goes after former Red Stockings.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Especially his love child Anthony Rizzo. Dude traded for him twice.
Literally seconds after I posted this I remembered that was Hoyer not Theo but **** it.

Re: 2016 Trade Deadline Thread
Expendable and Schwarber don't belong in the same sentence. Ever. Aside from that, Schwarber wasn't even playing catcher anymore, so....not really sure of your point there.
Hoyer counts as an extension of Theo. Like a 3rd pinkie finger or something.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment
