And even then, signing Judge doesn't make them better than last year since there's no way Judge puts up those kinds of numbers again.

For whatever reason, I thought Nolan's defense would push him over the top. Anyways, not bothered by the 2 votes Ohtani even though the fact that they came from the two LA writers makes it look a little meh.

Yeah they are probably homer votes, but any other year a 2-way year like Ohtani had probably wins it. Judge just had a historic year, and I think people are a little more "immune" to the Ohtani hype since he was so good last year too

I don't think anybody is immune to anything Ohtani is doing. Judge simply put up more win shares offensively then Ohtani did pitching and hitting. That's legitimately how good his season was. It may single handedly get him in the hall of fame if he can put together a decent back half of his career.

That doesn't even touch the talent the Marlins have had to let walk.

I grew up in South Florida. Even in their WS years before the fire-sales, the road team always drew more fans than the Marlins did. My generation already had the Braves (TBS) , plus you have all the transplants in South Florida. There's just not much of a natural fanbase down there. It's legitimately probably the worst MLB city we have. It's why the churn continues. At least if Pitt or CLE is good the fans will go, in South FL they won't.

Immune was possibly the wrong word. I just think it's similar to Trout because he is so consistently amazing that it has almost become normal (I know Ohtani only has 2 ridiculously good 2-way years so far but it feels like a similar phenomenon).

But yes that also really puts into perspective how great Judge was this year.

Anyway....back to the hot stove....should heat up a bit here on non-tender day. Cody Bellinger is definitely the biggest question mark. I wonder if the Dodgers will find a trade partner for him or shell out the ~$18M he'll get in arbitration in hope of a bounce back campaign. Very mixed feelings on whether the Cubs should pursue if he is non-tendered

Bring Bellinger to Boston. Let's see what happens.
