Braves resigned Matzek to a 2 year deal with a club option for 3rd. He's expected to miss all of 23 with TJ.

Yanks bringing back Kiner-Falefa 1 for $6M. Not sure if this takes them out of the SS market or not at that number. Backup plan maybe?

I doubt a $6M is enough to keep them out, but having Peraza/Volpe both waiting in the wings might be.

What is it about Bellinger that has people wanting him?

His first 3 seasons were obviously as good as you could start a career, but since then he's hit .203 with a .648OPS in almost 300 games.

Do people just think he can bounce back?

In situations like this, the local beat writers are either brutal homers or feel pressured by the organization/fanbase to "support the team".

Solution should be simple: assuming an equal number of local voters per franchise, writers shouldn't be able to vote for anybody from the "home team". (Those designated as national writers can vote for anybody.)

This article goes into depth in what has been going on with Bellinger the last few years: https://www.prospectslive.com/prospe...cody-bellinger

I think it makes a lot of sense; I looked at his advanced data and you don’t see a big shift…except he’s just not hitting the ball as hard any more.

I’d jump on him if I’m a GM and get someone to work with him all winter on fixing his lower half. The upside is still there and worth pursuing.

Yeah with Bellinger you are basically signing him with the hopes that he at least can still provide good defense at any outfield spot or 1B, and take the chance you can 'fix' the bat to be at least league average to provide a little power from the left side. He is young enough that there is still some upside. He isn't a completely lost cause....but there is obviously still the risk that he can't hit

He's 27 with a ROY and an MVP/SS/GG. Exact type of player ATL has had success bringing in and rebuilding value with. Not saying he's for us, but I wouldn't hate it at $12M for 1 to help us at LF/DH

Isn't Bellinger represented by Boras? If so, another client of his Michael Conforto, should give him an idea of what their market will be.

I’d take a chance on Conforto way before Bellinger. Seeing the way McNeil and Lindor bounced back last year you could at least make a case the Mets analytics team was the reason for his awful 2021. I feel like if the Dodgers can’t fix Bellinger nobody else will
