If true, it's either $37M + for 9 years or, $42M + for 8 years. Probably has deferred $s to help them at the Tax Penalty. LA and SF will surely go higher.

Yanks are at $222M expected payroll at the moment.

I like Conforto, but I'm tempted by Bellinger's high reward factor.

Only an armchair guess, but Cody strikes me as someone who doesn't take direction well. He comes across as someone who knows better than anyone else.
A Twitter hitting coach (take that for what it's worth) said he noticed his bat speed isn't as good as before his forearm bashing injury.
He's always had a violent swing with holes, but his bat speed made up for it.
But after having two bad seasons and now being cut at 26YO, maybe he'll be willing to listen and make changes.
Jays are targeting Nimmo, but if that doesn work out I'd be happy if they got Bellinger.

I think this belongs in Hot Stove.

Acuna Jr changed Agents, along with his two brothers and cousin (all 3 minor leaguers) to Magnus Sports.

He's under team control until after 2029 if you count the team only option the last 2 years. For what it's worth he'll be 31 by the time he's a free agent.

Isn't that Marc Anthony's agency? If it's the same one, the move makes sense as Magnus has a focus on helping Latin American entertainers and athletes.

Unsure of things outside the sports world, but the article I read mentioned they represent Vladdy Jr. so possibly?

Jays have spoke to Bellinger about signing a deal.

Sounds like he only wants a 1 year (bet on yourself) deal.

Toronto would be one of the better options for him if that's the case.

A hitters ballpark while also having recent proof with a guy like Semien as to how a single big year in Toronto turns into a big time payday.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed in terms to replace longtime abbreviation ARI with AZ.

I always use ARZ when talking about any Arizona team.

I guess they'd only go for 1 guy?

Or do they try for both, if dealing someone like Kirk is in their plans (or just make Kirk full time catcher), so that they could almost have a 3 man rotation between CF/RF with Springer/Nimmo/Bellinger where the 1 guy not playing the field is the DH.

I was reading some thoughts from MLB execs about the 2023 season, and one thing that stood out is that execs believe the change in the shifting rules could be real beneficial to left handed batters more than anything. Teams perhaps trying to load up more on lefty hitters to put the theory to the test?

So just like every other offseason, until the major guys sign things are always slow.

But I can guarantee you one thing, the Dodgers have interest, and probably the Yankees too.

Let’s hope they don’t carry it out in to Spring Training like when Harper was a free agent
