I definitely preferred Gio. Donaldson was great with the glove though. But I don't know what happened to his hitting. Just looked like he was guessing at everything at the plate. Not a sound strategy.

I'm sorry but Nimmo isn't a $20M/year player. Granted if he plays 8 full years (something he's only done twice, he might get close to his career 5/162 WAR, but his only recent healthy season was last year.

He might not be worth it per year, but maybe in the aggregate. Was worth 5.4 fWAR last year at about 8M per win = 43.2M worth in value.

In 2021, in just 92 games, 3.3 fWAR at 8M per win = 26.4M in value.

You combine him with a league average or replacement level player (not the same thing) to keep him healthy and you can make it work I guess.

Not my money, so keep it going :P

Yeah I get it, but this felt like a very old Mets regime number/signing. I think the number is up closer to 10M/WAR now, but anywhere 8-12M/WAR assuming he can average 3 WAR for that number would be an okay outcome. It's the number of years scares me about this one and his track record of injuries.

I didn't think so at one time either but now, I see why he's valuable. Nimmo is beloved and a popular figure in the clubhouse. Almost captain like. Mets staff and ownership adore him. He's a #1 pick and now a lifetime Met.

Mets are over $300m and Cohen is like namesake tax be damned.

Hal needs to give Cash a few blank checks and let him do what needs to be done.

Not sure how I feel about this. Kiermairer has been an amazing defensive outfielder but he’s past his prime.

                            Hopefully he can stay healthy.

He's hit exactly .228 or .217 in 4 of the last 5 seasons.

I mean, he's an upgrade over Zimmer, but they traded Teoscar too...

Defensively they're a better team today vs last season, but offensively they're not, and pitching wise they haven't really improved.

Kiermaier was also the guy in the middle of the whole play card controversy where he picked up the Jays card that fell out of their catchers pocket and brought it back to the Rays dugout. Most of the Jays guys from that game are now his teammates.
