For a small market team like this, not being able to scout, draft and develop homegrown talent is a kiler, and the #1 reason why they have been so bad for the better part of 3 decades.

Yeah that can cause problems! When I live in SD they went to the world series lol. And Cam won the MVP. That was exciting! But haven't seen much lately.

Does anyone happen to know where I can get a clip of Matty V. calling the Mike Piazza HR?

I've been a mets fan and a mike piazza fan since ive been a little kid and i just want to congratulate Mike on the SD post. Piazza was my role model growing up and he is one of the few sports stars that you can actually idolize. I hope he hits 30+ this year, he is a great player and he is great for any team he is on. I wish the best for Mike and I'll be at the first home game the mets have against the Padres cheering for him.

I think Piazza would be on pace to hit 30 home runs over 500 at bats, but he won't have that many at-bats in the season. If he does play more than 100 games I'm expecting him to hit 20 home runs.

Looks like today's game will be postponed. I expect it to start with a rain delay and get postponed by eight.

Is it too much to ask, for once to string a few hits together with runners in scoring position in a clutch situation?

This was their achilles last year and it's biting them in the *** again tonight.

Watch out with that post, Alliball might call you out (I said something like that along the same lines with what killed the Padres in 2004 and he called me out for it).

Anyways, Matt Morris did a good job spreading the hits around, but management had something to do with those blown run scoring opportunities... I mean, is Bellhorn the best we can do as pinch hitter in that situation? Should've kept Sledge in.

Frustrating game I suppose since Estes pitched better than what I expected. I didn't watch it though.

I don't know how you can dispute that was a problem with the Padres last year..

Estes pitched well, was the victim of some infield hits, and bad luck.

Bochy once again, burns the entire bench in one inning, and they still can't scratch out a run.

Ryan Klesko is apparently considering having surgery on his injured shoulder. Should he have the surgery he would likely be out until the Allstar break.

Double plays kill you guys tonight, just like it does us every year. Estes actually did pretty good for you. He will do that and then loss it fast! that is the knock about him, but SD show me something I think you guys will have a good year! I like A.G who hit the HR for you guys!

I hope he takes his time. Adrian Gonzalez's glove alone makes him more valuable than Klesko, who's bat no longer makes his defensive liabilities worth it.

Gonzalez, maybe a gold glover some day, and had 3 hits and a bomb tonight.

The news most Padres fans are rejoicing for since Klesko has regressed dramatically. Adrian Gonzalez has been a treat to watch on defense and at the plate so far. Klesko career as a Padre might be over if Gonzalez keeps this up.

Screw this team. They can't hit, they can't pitch, it's clear after tonight that they can't throw a ball into the ocean. I think Bochey is the worst manger in the bigs. How does he still have a job? How does Towers sleep at night knowing how bad he has scewed the fans of San Diego? Moores is an out and out thief. He lied to the fans of San Diego and stole money from them to get his little playground in downtown built. Why do you people even root for this team? What a bunch of suckers!!!

A little twist of irony huh?

I'm not even going to point it out.

Yeah real funny. After 2 games it's clear that this will be more of the same. Estes is a complete joke. Nice brain cramp on the mound dude. Should I throw home? Should I throw to first? Guh, I'm a ******, I'll just chunk the whole play. Way to go Barfield. Did you go to the Steve Sax school for second baseman? Barfield is a hack and should still be in Portland. While Loretta is lighting it up for the Sox we have to deal with some third rate career AAA dude at 2nd. Thanks Towers. 100 losses here we come.
