Tavarez rolling the ball to Youk may be the play of the year.

Fricken awesome catch by Coco that saved at least one run.

And yea Tavarez rolling the ball to Youk was pretty crazy. He didn't even think about throwing it, as soon as he caught it he just rolled it. Very weird.

Pedroia gives the Sox a 6-4 lead after a 12 pitch at bat and then a homerun against Gange. Thats was a great at bat by Pedroia, Gange tried everythings against him.

              What an at-bat by Pedroia.

Fouls off 8 pitches and then takes the 12th pitch out for a solo homerun.

              6-4 Sox.

                Sox sweep the Rangers.

But whats more important is that the Yankees lost .

That was incredible. I told my dad the at-bat would end with Gagne just trying to throw a fastball by him, it turned into a big run too.

Yeah, that at-bat turned into a HUGE one by Pedroia.

And I was the exact opposite...told my dad that Gagne was about to strike Pedroia out. Oops.

It seems like every closer the Sox rake is on my fantasy team.

How about that new pitching coach this year? Farrel has been the behind the scenes MVP without a doubt. Everyone has been healthy with the excpetion of Beckett's cut and Beckett has had a career year before that. He's also turned two guys with no major league experience into a very solid and sometimes dominant starter and an absolutely shutdown reliever.

Great job by everyone so far, there is not enough credit to go around.

Anyone going to watch the Portland vs Reading tommorow. Its a Futures at Fenway game, Buchholz is scheduled to pitch. I might check it out to see how he does.

Watching the Reading - Portland game right now. Buchholz has an absolutely dirty change up. It literally falls off the table with 11-5 action. Initially, I thought it was a splitter because it dropped so much, but apparently that is just his change up. He has been throwing that pitch to strike guys out today and they can't lay off it. It's really sick.

He hasn't been able to control his curve ball for strikes in this game, but that is also a pitch that completely drops off the table when he is on. His fastball looks to have some solid zip to it; although in this particular game, he hasn't been able to command it too well and has left it up in the strike zone. Does anybody else think his fastball is rather straight?

Even if that is the case, one can tell that if Buchholz has command of at least 2 of his 3 non-fastball pitches (apparently he also throws a slider, which I haven't seen) on any given night, he can dominate minor league hitters. Just purely guessing here, but I see Buchholz as a probable # 3 starter in the Majors, with perhaps a ceiling of a 2. Assuming his arm doesn't fall off or he doesn't have any nagging injuries, he looks like a keeper.

The Red Sox future looks bright from a pitching perspective -
Matsuzaka, Beckett, Lester, Buchholz. That is a pretty solid foundation of talented young starting pitching.

Inside the park homerun by Youkilis.

4-1 lead. Youk now has his 8th straight multi-hit game.

Lugo breaks out of his slump to drive in Pedroia (who has 3 hits tonight, two doubles) and now steals third. Looks like there will be a nice cushion for Paps tonight. Encouraging outing from Schilling, the fastball/split was back and in vintage form.
