Manny better have a big second half, because he sucks right now.

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Well the second half is starting, here are some thoughts.
If Papi doesn;t hit 40 homers, he can keep getting on base at a .440 clip as long as Manny starts to hit. If Manny is Manny, our offense will be totall different.
I expect Lowell to fall off a bit but not be non-exsitant like last year post-break. Same with Varitek.
I honestly believe this is the real Coco. I say trade Willy Mo right now for whatever you can, hopefully a good bullpen arm. Or you can hold your cards and hope Delcarmen hits his potential.
The Schilling situation scares me because there are no updates. I have a feeling he'll be fairly uneffective this second half, hopefully will be ready by playoff time.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
This is some bullsh*t right here. JD Drew hits a three run homer, but the umps rule it hit the wall. Replay (screw the replay, the naked eye could see it) clearly shows the ball lands ontop of the monster and hits the back panel on top. Instead of a 3-run lead, the Red Sox get only 1 and the inning is over (Manny was thrown out at the plate). The umps get together and no one overrules Tim McClellan. It's not even a hard call! Unbelievable...Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
The Sox overcame the incompetance of McClellan and the umps due in large part to a bases-loaded triple by Crisp and a Grand Slame by Lugo. Lugo is now hitting .500 in the month of July. That's certainly a number we all love to see, but I hope he can find a healthy medium between that and the .190 he hit up through June.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
How the hell did McLellan think the ball bounced UP after hitting the wall? Basic physics here. The sad thing is, it looked like the 2nd base and home plate ump were both arguing to overrule it. I'd love to hear his explanation for what he saw, although seeing Francona's reaction, it couldn't have been too good.Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
The more I think about it, the more ridiculous the call looks. I really have no idea how they missed it. Good thing they won though otherwise there would have been riots in the street if that 3-1 White Sox lead had held up. Really, why doesn't baseball just add instant replay for stuff like this? Do we have to wait for something like this to happen in the playoffs and cost a team a game before it's appropriately addressed?Comment

Re: Boston Red Sox: 2007
Fox sucks. I'm trying to watch the Red Sox game and the cut away from the broadcast to show me Bonds' at-bat live. I don't care, I'm in New Hampshire, I want to watch the Red Sox. It would be almost forgiveable if he was sitting on 755 and trying to break the record, but he can't even tie it here! This is asinine!Comment

So great to see Lester back on the mound. I agree, cut to Bonds when he is on 755, not beforeBoston Red Sox 2004, 2007 World Series Champions
Nomar's homer off Pedro. Those four words just shouldn't go together. Not even on a day like 6/6/6. ~Bill SimmonsComment
