If I could find the picture, I would post the one of the two Japanese groundskeepers in Major League saying, "Oh no...We suck again!"

      :y4: We're ****ty again.

I don't know why we can't produce any hits. I still have faith that we'll come out of it... but I could be like the fans in the movie... I'll have faith until we totally blow up... then I'll be the rebelious guy... "They'll blow it in the playoffs... They will... they'll blow it in the playoffs."

SlimKibbles is right, they just can't seem to be able to put together a night with good starting pitching, good hitting, and good relief pitching. It just doesn't happen, and its very frustrating.

I mean, if Uncle Milty is starting a game and the team only allows three runs, thats as good as its gonna get. Of course, the offense was shut down and only got 1 run on a 9th inning solo shot by Dunn.

The reds starting pitching has the 4th best ERA in the NL and yet the record doesn't come close to representing that. Their bullpen ERA is, of course, last in the NL though.

Great points made by all. I am really getting tired of the same old **** every year. On paper, the Reds look great. On the field they don't.

If I am the GM here's what I would do. Dump Milton and move on. Pick a closer, play Freel at 3rd when and if Griffey comes back. Edwin needs to go back down to Louisville and get his swing back. Oh,the hell with it. We are ****ty again!!

I guess it was just a matter of time. Cool!

The Reds just announced that they are going to retire Davey Concepcion's number this year. Great news! They need to do Barry Larkin too, sooner rather than later, in my opinion.

              Reds retire No. 13
              BY JOHN FAY

The Reds announced today they will retire Dave Concepcion’s No. 13.

It is the eighth number the team has retired, and the first since Sparky Anderson’s 10 was retired May 28, 2005.

The Reds will formally retire Concepcion’s number before a July 28 game against the Chicago Cubs.

Concepcion spent his entire career with the Reds. He, Pete Rose and Barry Larkin share the record for seasons played with the Reds at 19. Concepcion played for the Reds from 1970 to 1988.

Concepcion was elected to the club’s Hall of Fame in 2000.

No one has worn Concepcion's number since he retired. Only three others have worn No. 13 for Cincinnati - Eddie Miller in 1946, Eddie Pellagrini in 1952-53, and coach Ray Shore in 1966-67.

He hit .267 with a 101 home runs and 950 RBI in his career. He was a nine-time All-Star and five-time Gold Glove winner.

              The other retired numbers:

              1 Fred Hutchinson, retired 1965
              5 Johnny Bench, retired Aug. 11, 1984
              8 Joe Morgan, retired June 6, 1998
              10 Anderson, retired May 28, 2005
              18 Ted Kluszewski, retired July 18, 1998
              20 Frank Robinson, May 22, 1998
              24 Tony Perez, retired May 27, 2000

Jackie Robinson’s No. 42 is also retired.

                Well, it's about damn time

                Roster Moves:

                Cormier DFA/Salmon call up.
                ==============================
                John Fay:

Designating Rheal Cormier was something the Reds had to do. You can't keep a guy in the bullpen if the manager is not going to use him, and Jerry Narron wasn't using Cormier.

also the Reds Chris Denorfia has been traded to the Oakland Athletics for 2 PTBNL...anyone know who the 2 r?

CINCINNATI -- The Cincinnati Reds today acquired RHP Marcus McBeth as part of yesterday's deal that sent OF Chris Denorfia to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for two players to be named later and cash considerations.

                    Thanks man...more on McBeth:

McBeth, a former centerfielder, made the conversion to pitching in 2005. He burst on the scene in 2006, excelling as a closer for Stockton, Midland and Sacramento. McBeth saved 32 games for those three A's affiliates last season and he struck out 86 batters in 70.1 innings. He was the closer for the AFL champion Phoenix Desert Dogs this past fall and was the AFL Pitcher of the Week for the week of October 30.

McBeth could join the Reds bullpen sometime this season. The South Carolina grad is armed with a low to mid-90s fastball and a change-up that has been compared to Trevor Hoffman's. McBeth had been acting as the Sacramento River Cats closer this season and he was 1-0 with five saves and a 1.80 ERA in eight appearances for the River Cats in 2007.

Good stuff. With the addition of Josh Hamilton, Denorfia wasn't going to see anytime in the majors with the Reds this year so I'm cool with the trade.

ok, it's early in the season. I realize this. But for the love of everything that is holy can the Reds PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE get a bullpen that can handle a freaking lead? This team can be so frustrating at times.

Yeah, it really shouldn't be too difficult. Counting on a rookie named Coutlangus certainly isn't reassuring.

On another note, did anybody watch the games this weekend? All I have to say is holy crap, Josh Hamilton! 4-5 Saturday night with two singles, a double and a triple not to mention a web gem. Sunday he had two home runs and threw out Willy Taveras at third with an absolute laser. The sky is the limit with this kid and I hope all his drug and alcohol problems are well behind him, both for his sake and the fans.
