Barry Zito is 29. Matt Cain turns 23 in October. Noah Lowry turns 27 in October. Tim Lincecum turns is 23. And Patrick Misch is turning 26 later this month (If Russ Ortiz doesn't comeback as a starter). Pretty cool for a decent rotation.

Now if only they can pick up better hitters next season. If Fred Lewis/Rajai Davis can get more better at their hitting they'll have some decent, young outfielders. Maybe pickup a veteran outfielder like Torii Hunter? But I'm not sure of Winn and Roberts' contract situation. But Frandsen is the only young infielder. Everyone else is a geezer lol.

yeah it is solid, but the bull pen is what pisses me off. I hope they sign some guys that can finishes games!

      Re: 2007 San Francisco Giants

I assure you that the bullpen isn't the problem. Honestly, what is there to be closed out? Every day they're getting thrown out there to go extras while the offense can't BUY a hit. The issue is that we're the oldest team in the league, with absolutely no upside and no young talent that can truly CHANGE the game, whether it be with power, speed or defense. Davis wasn't meant to be part of our future, he's simply a thrown in and a decent one since it relieved us of Morris' contract.

Signing Roberts was a copout and disappointment by Sabean. He tried to sign Lee, Matthews and Pierre - all rejected us because this team isn't going anywhere. The past offseasons signings have simply been done for a BUSINESS standpoint in the fact that it'll probably draw casual fans in. Job well done. People that actually follow the game and have some sort of knowledge know that what has been done has been stupid. Zito's deal may be looked back on as one of the worst deals in the history of the game, if not already. Our rotation is locked up for a few years, but unless we get a major overhaul of our offense, we're going nowhere. Unfortunately, we have a lot of useless parts under contract for a few more years and Sabean has said he does not want to rebuild, simply 're-tool'. That means he'll probably re-sign Feliz AGAIN because noone wants to play for us.

They didn't come on because of the ball park it is not a hitters park and they knew better. It really will be hard to get any great bat and the bullpen is a big problem has been ever since Nenn retire. How many time have we blown it in the 8th and 9th inning over the last 4 years!

We can thank Sabean for that one too. Joe Nathan exit stage left. Jeremy Accardo exit stage right. It has been our downfall in the past and somewhat this year, but the Giants bats are the main problem.

          This year...
          Joe Nathan: 1.98ERA 1.06WHIP 51K 50IP 25SV
          Jeremy Accardo: 2.58ERA 1.24WHIP 44K 45.1IP 19SV

It's really no surprise that our bullpen is bad. The people that have actually been solid are either 1) traded away for garbage 2) let go because we're too cheap or 3) are young, have a load of potential and can strike guys out

And this is why I thought Sab should have been gone.

I hate this team, I really do. I hope they don't sign Bonds next year, but if they do, they better go out and get some bats. They don't need to rebuild they are a big market team, you are not a small market team. You don't need to rebuilt, you just go put and steal other players from other teams. Rebuilt by free agency.

omg the Giants actually won a game in extra innings, hahaha. Randy Winn is continuing to stay hot. I'm actually surprised that Boche is placing him in the 3 spot now, due to him being hot. Hopefully he'll stay hot and continue to produce if he stays as the #3 hitter. Another great outing by Lincecum.

What a shocking win... I completely thought history was repeating itself after that HR was hit by Young. Lincecum didn't have his best stuff, but still went 7. We can only pray that this guy stays healthy because he's simply amazing.

I think we do need to rebuild because position player wise, we don't have any legit cornerstones now that Bonds is done. We have nothing to build around, all we've got are the sloppy seconds. The one guy I'd like to see come replace Bonds is Miguel Cabrera though I don't think he enters the open market until a few years from now. I don't think we could lure him here either, but that guy is a monster even if he has gotten beefy. I don't really want to go out and overpay for a guy like Hunter because he's already 32 and will probably make 15m+ a year. I say we let a guy like Schierholtz who was hitting .325 before being sent down a shot in one of the OF corners or 1B.

Yeah Young's homer was like many backbreakers we have witnessed before.

Dang I just looked up Cabrera's contract and it looks like he's signed until after the '08 season.

Here's a brief listing of free agents after '08 season :
So Eric Byrnes is available again but he's 32 just like Torii Hunter, but hey may go for a cheaper contract just because he's not as known. But I like Byrnes, he's scrappy. Andruw Jones is 31. Heck even A-Rod might be available, but his contract is ridiculous.

For Cabrera I would try Timmy or Cain. They can pick which one.

I was just looking at some previous top prospects and I ran across Marcus Sanders. I remember the guy being a flat out jet around the bases. In 2005 at the age of 18/19, he stole 57bases and hit .300/.407OBP. He was one of our top prospects at the time. Of course, a lot of our top prospects have something go wrong and it looks like he had a shoulder injury and he's never been the same.

I would yes they are good, but you have to give something to get a bat and Miguel is a great and alreday proven player. You can built your team around him and Timmy or Cain. With Lowry, Zito, Timmy or Cain. What more do you need.

For a bat it is worth it. If we got someone like an AROD for that trade, it would be worth it
