Re: San Diego Padres 2007
We won. Well, that makes up for yesterday's game.
Jake Peavy is up tomorrow. Team needs to get him some run support.
And I wonder how long it's going to take before Blum gets cut. I'd rather see Kouzmanoff getting those chances than Blum.Comment

You crack me up and the SD fans have been better about their team. That is any fan, they complain when their teams play bad and love them when they are winning!Comment

Exception: Yankees fans still complain when they're winning.Comment

Uh, no. I've been to several stadiums and Giant fan takes the cake by 1000 miles for being the biggets pain in the rear. Cub fan comes in a very close second, but Giant fan is the worst.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Peavy was awesome again today, we had some good clutch hitting when it mattered as well. Next up 4 with the braves. This will be a good test for this team.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Good performance by Chris Young. Looks like he's finally coming around. Adrian with another home run.
Heath Bell has been nothing short of amazing so far. He keeps this up Linebrink may be traded.
Anyways, Justin Germano faces off against Kevin Barry (I think that's his name) tomorrow. Two guys making their first started this year. Germano takes the place of the injured Clay Hensley (groin).
Edit: Braves are going with a different starter. Anthony LaRue I believe.Last edited by BatsareBugs; 05-08-2007, 02:50 PM.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Tough loss last night. See what I get for singing the praises of our bullpen in the Braves Team Thread. Bell who has been basically unhittable can't hold the lead and he gives up 2 runs and "raises" his ERA to 1.29. We only managed 3 hits, tough to win with only 3 hits.
Should be a great game tonight with Smoltz versus Maddux.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Haha Kelverin, looks like the bullpen has been jinxed for the series.
Oh well. We can't expect them to come through all the time. They'll have their bumps.
A-Gon with another home run, but the hitting is simply not there...
Next week if Kouzmanoff doesn't hit .300 in his next 20+ at-bats, send him down (Mid-May is about right to start shifting things around, enough to give the kid a chance to get out of his slump).Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Another excellent effort by Peavy. I liked the throwbacks the Padres wore tonight and it's always great to beat the cardinals.
Peavy had another 10 strikeouts tonight and the announcers said if he did he would break a record. Anyone what they were talking about? I can not find it anywhere.
Nevermind. I found it.
"Ace Jake Peavy became the first pitcher in franchise history to strike out at least 10 in four straight starts, holding the Cardinals to three hits in seven scoreless innings and leading the Padres to a 7-0 win over the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals on Friday night."Last edited by Kelverin; 05-12-2007, 12:06 AM.Comment

What a game by Peavy and Branyan. And about time we got runs off a scrub pitcher for once.Comment

Re: San Diego Padres 2007
Same old, same old.
Punchless lineup, no speed, questionable trade practices, barren farm system. Same results, boring baseball, and yet again, a mediocre team hovering around .500 with little hope of improvement.
This is not what John Moores and crew promised when the new stadium went to vote. We were promised a commitment to winning a title. Not lining the ownerships pockets, while getting a degraded in stadium experience, and the same mediocre team we've had to watch for the last decade. And don't get me started on the Cox only local television deal. Another brilliant plan by the most inept management in all of baseball.
Why did we trade Barfield for Kouzmanoff again? How did those moves guys like the Truth were touting improve this team? THis looks like the exact same type of team we've had here for the last 4 years. How is this team any better than last year, or the year before, or the year before that?
What it must be like to be a fan who's leadership is committed to putting a championship caliber team on the field. This team is a joke.Last edited by bkrich83; 05-13-2007, 07:24 PM.Comment
