Nevin had a nice year there also.

Yeah that is so freakin true...Man that was a mess with Arias

Who the heck is this George Arias guy? Is it better that I don't know anything about him?

Anyways, to make matters worse. After Nevin put a decent season there in 2001, since then we went through:

        Sean Burroughs
        Injured Phil Nevin
Joe Randa (probably our best contributor of this decade... not saying much).
        Vinny Castilla
        Mark Bellhorn
        Todd Walker

Arias took over 3rd in 1999. He was the Heir apparent to Caminiti when the Padres decided to dump salary after the stadium bond issue passed. Through about 60 games it was apparent he was not the answer and Phil Nevin came on and actually had a nice little breakout.

For whatever reason, with a few exceptions, 3rd base base long been a trouble spot for this team.

Yup. .230 or .225 or something like that. Lefty. Got him from the Yanks, had a couple of seasons where he showed some power for them. Got here, and was horrid.

I don't know what's worse... having a slumping Kouz/Greene in the lineup or having Geoff Blum in the lineup.

Way to go Adrian with a triple.

Edit: Ha, Terrmel Sledge remembered how to hit. Is Hoffman good for this game? No more runs please then.

Edit #2: Nevermind, Russell Branyan still showing why he's valuable off the bench.

                    Kouz is slumping?

                      Sorry, I didn't specify.

Whenever Blum played in place of Kouzmanoff when Kouzmanoff was slumping or right now when Blum plays in place of Greene since Greene is slumping... Blum hasn't done all that well this season, including spring training.

They kept the wrong Playoff Hero.

Wells sure could've used some of those runs today Padres.

Anyways, on the Minor League front, the Padres signed Matt Latos today. Latos was a draft-and-follow from the 2006 draft and the deadline to sign him was tomorrow. Latos was holding out for more money (around 3 million I believe). I'm not sure what the final offer was that they agreed upon, but Latos has some filthy stuff. Means nothing though if it doesn't translate through the minors and the majors.

Padres are going to have a good draft and I can't wait to see some of the talent prosper because they have had a horrible farm system for years...maybe its turning around.
